Mecklenburg County voters will decide in November if the county will

 issue $290 million in bonds to fund academic programs, construction, renovations and upgrades for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. 

Superintendent Morrison says that CMS has real and urgent needs that the 2013 bond issue would address. Please join us for an information session at Shalom Park with Dr. Heath Morrison, Superintendent of CMS Schools.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 
Our Temple family is joining with the Charlotte Jewish community this month in taking a stand against domestic abuse. Join us by wearing a purple pin, by learning more HERE, and by attending two special programs:
  • October 25th at Temple Beth El - The clergy's message will speak to this and the silhouettes featuring stories of local Jewish survivors will be displayed
  • October 27, Parent Workshop on Helping our Tweens/Teens Feel Safe at 1:30 in Sam Lerner Center at Shalom Park.

 Our Condolences 
 

Mayya Maryamova, mother of George Valdman, died on October 10, 2013. A graveside service was held on Friday, October 11, 2013.

 

Eric Wand, son of Thelma Wand, brother of Debra Ferry and uncle of Rebecca Ferry, died October 11, 2013.  The funeral will be held out of town.

 Sunshine Psalms Study Group

Join us Friday, October 25th an Noon. This group supports those with anxiety and depression and is studying the ten Psalms identified by Reb Nachman as having special healing power. October's study will be on Palm 32 focusing on the burden of guilt. Feel free to bring lunch.

Teen Band

 

If you are interested in joining our wonderful Teen Band this season, please contact Cantor Bernard as soon as possible so he can prepare music for your instrument. Teen Band plays at our Saturday morning Congregational Shabbat Services monthly October through May. In addition, Teen Band will participate in Temple Beth El's final 70th Anniversary Celebration in November when we will be hosting the president of the Reform movement, Rabbi Rick Jacobs.
