Beth El to Help Lead International Mission to Celebrate Women of the Wall's 25th Anniversary and to Promote Pluralism in Israel

For 25 years, a group called Women of the Wall have been praying at the Western Wall on Rosh Chodesh (at the start of each new Hebrew month) and fighting for things we take for granted such as having women lead prayer services, read from Torah and wear a tallit. Join Rabbi Schindler on an international mission from October 30th to November 7th.  Registration forms are due July 15h. For more information Click Here.

Friday, July 12, 2013

6:15 pm service; 7:15 pm dinner; 7:45 pm lecture

This year's lecture on July 12th will follow Beth El's 6:15pm Summer Shabbat Services and a 7:30pm Shabbat dinner. In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing and in the wake of recent NSA leaks, the community is asking questions about security and civil liberties. This year's compelling theme, Living in the Tension Between Safety and Freedom, will address the questions: "What freedoms do I need to give up to be safe? What safeties do I need to give up to be free?"

Guest panelists include Rabbi Judy Schindler; FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge James Jewell; Jake Sussman, TBE member, guest moderator and lawyer with Tin Fulton Walker & Owen; and Scott Broyles, Assistant Professor at the Charlotte School of Law. For more information, Click Here.
