Beth El to Help Lead International Mission to Celebrate Women of the Wall's 25th Anniversary and to Promote Pluralism in Israel

"Women of the Wall Informational Meeting" - Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 10:00 am at Temple Beth El in the Jacobs Jaffa Conference Room.

For 25 years, a group called Women of the Wall have been praying at the Western Wall on Rosh Chodesh (at the start of each new Hebrew month) and fighting for things we take for granted such as having women lead prayer services, read from Torah and wear a tallit. Join Rabbi Schindler on an international mission from October 30th to November 7th. Join with women from across the world to commemorate the courage of Women of the Wall as we advocate for an Israel that fully embraces pluralism and have a great time. Highlights of the trip include:
seminars with leading scholars on a wide-range of issues, high-level  meetings with influential members of Knesset, several touring options in and around Jerusalem and a Gala Celebration Dinner with Anat Hoffman, Executive Director of Israel's Religious Action Center, and preeminent Jewish musicians. You can also choose to attend just the core program from Sunday, November 3rd to Wednesday, November
7th. Registration forms are due July 15th. For more information Click Here.

Tzofim Friendship Caravan to Perform Tuesday June 25th at 6:00 pm

Join us in Gorelick Hall at Shalom Park at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 25 -  This year's Tzofim Friendship Caravan delegation joining us in Charlotte is made up of ten incredibly motivated and talented Israeli Scouts, ages 16 and 17, who will share a lively musical program made up of songs and dances. The Tzofim Friendship Caravan is part of a larger delegation of Israel Scouts who, each summer, represent Israel at camps and communities across North America.  Our Beth El members, Bob and Leigh Jacobson, remarked: "The singing and dancing are exceptional. What a wonderful and rare opportunity for our youth to meet and interact with Israeli teenagers.  These Israeli high schoolers are also our children. When they are away from home, traveling abroad now or on a military base in a few short years, they should have warm and happy memories of their visit to Charlotte." The performance is free and open to the community. For more information contact the Federation office at 704.944.6757.

What safeties do I need to give up to be free?"

Guest panelists include Rabbi Judy Schindler; FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge James Jewell; Jake Sussman, TBE member, guest moderator and lawyer with Tin Fulton Walker & Owen; and Scott Broyles, Assistant Professor at the Charlotte School of Law. For more information, Click Here.
