Temple Beth El Sacred Gifts

Counting the Omer and Being Counted

As a congregation, we join the Jewish world in counting the days from Pesach to Shavuot, and from our Exodus from Egypt to our standing at Sinai to receive the Torah.  During this fifth week of the counting of the Omer, we mystically mark the value of Y'sodY'sod reflects foundation and grounding.  This value is seen most prominently at Beth El in our youth.

Our Sacred Gifts Reflect Our Youth and Our Future

Susan Jacobs, Director of Education

Andy Harkavy, Director of Youth Engagement

As a congregation, it is our responsibility to make sure that we work hard to build a solid foundation for our future congregants and leaders. It is the youth at Temple Beth El that give us a strong sense of purpose and keep us grounded. We kvell over every kindergarten child on the bima at Consecration, and watch with pride as they become B'nei Mitzvah and make the commitment to continue their Jewish education. Our school halls are filled not only with students, but with teenagers who become student teachers, madrichim. Our youth groups lead the nation in attendance and participation records. Our future B'nei Mitzvah students are taught by teens that have already finished the process. Our services are enhanced by the talents of our teen musicians. Every congregant is responsible for making sure that all of these opportunities are supported. These children belong to all of us, and we hold their Jewish future in our hands. We must strengthen the foundation and insure our Jewish continuity by gifting the amount we are able to through our Sacred Gifts program.  These gifts insure that our children can participate fully in every opportunity.
