Temple Beth El Sacred Gifts

Counting the Omer and Being Counted

As a congregation, we join the Jewish world in counting the days from Pesach to Shavuot, and from our Exodus from Egypt to our standing at Sinai to receive the Torah. During this third week of the counting of the Omer, we mystically mark the value of tiferet. Tiferet reflects beauty, glory and balance. While this value is seen throughout Beth El, this week we focus on its expression in our relationship with Israel.

Fast Facts About Our Love of Israel at Temple Beth El

  • 22 congregants went on the Interfaith Israel Trip with Meyers Park Baptist Church.

Our Sacred Gifts Reflect Our Strong Bond with Israel

Rabbi Judy Schindler

Experiencing tiferet, beauty, is central to being a Jew.  At Beth El we experience beauty and splendor not only in our sanctuary but through our regular and sacred journeys to our holy land of Israel.  From morning hikes up and mystical services atop Masada, to walking through the magical alleyways and small shuls of the Kabbalistic city of Safed,  to enjoying Shabbat with our sister congregation of Birkat Shalom, our congregation continually strengthens our bonds with and appreciates the beauty of our homeland.    As a congregation we are strongly connected to Israel, to Israelis, and to our fellow congregants who become our mishpachah, our family, as we travel on our sacred journeys. Israel is a second home to Beth El for those who have been there and for those who dream of visiting.

Israel's first Prime Minister David Ben Gurion wrote that "In Israel, in order to be a realist you must believe in miracles."  Your sacred gift enables us to teach our congregants, young and old, about the miracle, beauty and awe of Israel.

In the coming weeks during the counting of the Omer, you will receive a Sacred Gift Pledge Form for the 2013-2014 year.  We hope we can count on you to sustain our congregation. For more information on how you can make your pledge, please contact Candace Naliboff at 704-749-3068 or Here.
