Temple Beth El Sacred Gifts

Counting the Omer and Being Counted

As a congregation, we join the Jewish world in counting the days from Pesach to Shavuot, and from our Exodus from Egypt to our standing at Sinai to receive the Torah. During this second week of the counting of the Omer, we mystically mark the value of g'vurahG'vurah reflects strength, judgment and justice. This value is seen most prominently at Beth El in our Social Justice and Action work.

Our Sacred Gifts Reflect Giving From the Heart

Shelley Pawlyk, Chair, Temple Beth El Israel Committee

In a quest to give, whether financially or in acts of Tikkun Olam - "repairing the world" -  is it plausible to think that we can give more than what God gives back to us in return? Stretching beyond "having in order to give," to "giving in order to have" and realizing what is stated in Malachi 3:10 (that what you offer to God through your gifts to the Temple will be returned in abundance) can be intriguing and rewarding. The added bonus of giving at Temple Beth El is the extra effort made by our clergy, staff, and lay leadership to thank us and explain how our giving makes a difference.  Whether you participate in giving anonymously or so your name is known, will you please give faithfully?

At Beth El, we pray with our words inside the sanctuary and with our actions outside the sanctuary.  Our acts of tikkun olam, of healing our world happen continually through our dozens of Social Justice and Action activities for every age or stage. Your sacred gift sustains the structures that enable members of Beth El to daily make a difference.

In the coming weeks during the counting of the Omer, you will receive a Sacred Gift Pledge Form for the 2013-2014 year.  We hope we can count on you to sustain our congregation. For more information on how you can make your pledge, please contact Candace Naliboff at 704-749-3068 or Here.
