With Thanksgiving coming up, I want to wish each of you a wonderful, warm, loving holiday. For me it is a chance to create havoc in my kitchen cooking delicious food for my family and close friends.

As a fun "gift" here's a YouTube video for your enjoyment and to share with your family and friends. (Ignore the messages at the bottom of the video or click on the "x" to get them off the page entirely)

But that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of important information to share with you before then!

This newsletter features several important articles:

First, I asked Paul Davis, one of the most knowledgeable people I know on the subject of Medicare, to explain how Open Enrollment works.

Next, as I mentioned in previous newsletters, one of the most overlooked reasons why many elderly cease socializing is hearing loss. My national partner CapTel Captioned Telephones provided this article about the importance of "Staying Social"as we age.

I am also including a link to an amazing Alzheimer's webinar, "Living with Dementia: Impact on Individuals, Caregivers, Communities, and Societies." Michael Ellenbogen, you know from my previous newsletters, is suffering from Early Alzheimer's Disease and is one of the nation's leading advocates for finding a cure for this disease.

Finally, it has been all over the news how Veterans have been denied benefits that they were promised when they agreed to serve.

That is why I asked one of my most loyal sponsors, Dignity Memorial, to explain about important end of life benefits that are promised to Veterans.

Your VA Burial Benefits - What Do They Really Cover? (Provided by Dignity Memorial)

As a veteran, you may qualify for burial benefits through the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA), but it's important to understand what they are and how to request them.

According to funeral industry experts, many veterans don't know all the facts when they or their families come in to plan their funeral services. That's why the Dignity Memorial® network created the Veterans Planning Guide especially to educate veterans. The guide contains "10 Important Facts About Your VA Burial Benefits" and corrects some common misperceptions.

For example, a recent survey shows that 60 percent of veterans mistakenly believe the VA pays funeral, cremation and cemetery expenses for all veterans. In truth, reimbursement of funeral or cremation expenses is limited, and certain restrictions apply.

Six out of ten veterans also believe caskets are provided free of charge to all veterans. Actually, neither the VA nor the various branches of service provide a free casket for a deceased veteran unless death occurs while on active duty.

These and other facts are explained in the guide, which also contains information on requesting a U.S. flag, military funeral honors ceremonies, a Presidential Memorial Certificate and the issuance or replacement of military service medals, awards and decorations.

To request a free copy of the Veterans Planning Guide so you can learn how to take advantage of the VA burial benefits available to you, visit www.DignityMemorial.com, or call 1- (877) 632-6987.

You honored your country with your service. Now let your funeral service honor you.
