Carlos Bell Officially President-Elect |
A nominating committee was held at the May 2014 annual member meeting in Austin, Texas. The members nominated Carlos Bell for President-Elect unopposed. In accordance with ACPE bylaws, a national ballot was conducted electronically this past September. Carlos said, "I would like to thank ACPE for selecting me as President-Elect. I feel the support by your election. We are at a critical time and I would appreciate your continued input as we negotiate the present and future challenges and opportunities before us." Carlos will become ACPE President-Elect effective January 1, 2015. To begin his orientation, he will attend the board meeting in Atlanta in November as an observer. |
A Busy Fall Season in ACPE |
Our Executive Director (ED) Trace Haythorn and I are on the phone weekly to discuss various business issues that arise. Lately I have been catching him in strange locations such as Wisconsin, California, Pennsylvania and St. Simons Island, GA. He even showed up in Richmond, VA at the Mid-Atlantic regional meeting. He has been traveling most of the month to regional meetings and by the time this is published will have visited all nine regions. This gives us an indication of his level of commitment to ACPE. We recently celebrated his first year anniversary as our ED. We are blessed to have him leading our national office.

By Bill Scrivener, Annual Campaign Chair
We are pleased to report that the 2014 campaign is going well. So far we have raised $37,787 with participation from 207 members and friends. The regional champions have been very resourceful in encouraging giving at the regional level. As an example, some have made a contribution as a challenge grant, providing an incentive for others to give or give more. Please remember that, while operating needs are helped by what we are able to raise, a minimum of 20% of the amount will go toward funding creative and new CPE programs in contexts where CPE has not existed but deserves to be present. In order to fund these worthy projects, we need your gift, no matter how small.
We have two months to go in our campaign. Please, if you have not already contributed, make a donation now. Every contribution makes a difference in Sowing Seeds for our Holy Work.

Support ACPE through Georgia Gives Day |
ACPE is participating in Georgia Gives Day on November 13, 2014! We are very excited to come together as an organization to raise money for student scholarships for the ACPE Annual Conference in May. Our goal for Georgia Gives Day is to reach $5,000. Nine scholarships--one for each region--of up to $550.00 will be awarded based on the choice of the regions administrative board. *If we do not reach our goal, we will distribute awards evenly among the regions.
Although Georgia Gives Day is focused around one day, it is never too early to make your donation. We are hoping to get 100% participation from our membership in both fundraising and spreading the word, so that more people can learn about ACPE.
We encourage everyone to please give $5.00 and share this message with 5 people to help raise 5,000 dollars in one day! Remember no amount is too small because every dollar counts. If you have any questions please contact Clark Goss Pearson. |

New Co-Chairs of GLBTQ Network
|
Tammy Wooliver and Jack Geracci, new Co-Chairs of the GLBTQ Network are inviting interested ACPE members to join the GLBTQ Network. The group has existed since 1979 serving as a supportive, educational and advocacy forum for GLBTQ members and their allies. Presently there are approximately 30 members.
Wooliver and Geracci believe the network still maintains relevancy as some members may have the need to connect and share stories with likeminded people. Wooliver remarks, "Our needs change during the Supervisory process, GLBTQ members who are new in ACPE may require more support, whereas more seasoned Supervisors may not." Geracci said, "We are here for those who want to have meaningful conversations, engage in educational opportunities during annual conferences and to socialize."

Join a multi-faith trip to Israel!
NAJC is holding their annual conference in Israel this year and is facilitating multi-faith tours of Israel that will immediately follow the conference. If we have enough people from ACPE who are interested, we will arrange the tour as a group; if we don't have the numbers needed for a group, individuals are encouraged to attend with NAJC.
The dates of the multi-faith tour are January 30, 2015 - February 6, 2015. For more information, contact Marc Medwed, Program Manager.

The 2014 (#34) issue of Reflective Practice, Formation and Supervision in Ministry is now online. Some of the articles may have enhanced your summer reading, and perhaps you assigned a couple to your students in supervision to read as well. And-it's all free! That's the Good News!

The Bad News, as you will readily surmise, is: How in the world do you manage: to pay the bills for such things as: editing, mailings, printing, etc? Well, it is not easy, as we essentially depend on: ACPE components, such as the national office, regions (North Central, Pacific), and training centers; related pcc groups (AAPC, ATFE, NACC, etc.), library subscriptions, and colleagues such as you. Many supervisors, for example, purchase copies of RP (which is a bargain at $25) for their students in supervisory education, as a part of their readiness consult, or their certification as a supervisor in training, as well as for their CPE library.
