Carlos Bell Carlos Bell ran unopposed and accepted the nomination for President-elect (2015-2016).  ACPE presidents are elected by the entire membership via ballot.  And electronic ballot will be emailed at the end of the summer.  Over the next few months, Carlos will address questions and concerns submitted by the membership in the newsletter.  Send your questions, concerns, or thoughts to Ellen Swinford, Representing & Nominating Committee Chair.

2014 Annual Fund Campaign
Bill Scrivener 2x3 By Bill ScrivenerAnnual Campaign Chair

These are exciting times for ACPE. Our new Executive Director Trace Haythorn is providing strong leadership in many areas including our fundraising efforts.  At the May conference in Austin, he spoke to the Regional Champions and shared information about some of the initiatives that will be funded by the annual campaign.

The money raised in the 2014 Sowing Seeds for Our Holy Work Annual Campaign will go toward funding the following:

  1. Ongoing grant program supporting innovations in CPE;
  2. Expansion of our international programs and outreach, including exploration of international reciprocity and a recognition program for international centers; and,
  3. Technological infrastructure to support our academy, which also has implications for international and distance learning, new electronic methods for supervision, and other video-conferencing learning opportunities.

In the next few days, Ute and I will be sending you a letter asking for your participation in the annual campaign. Our goal is 100% participation. Please use the envelope enclosed with that letter or donate online to support the Holy Work of ACPE.

Interreligious Spiritual Care and Counseling

Presented by Rev. Hyoju Lee

June 26, 2014 - 1:00 pm EDT

In this webinar, Rev. Hyoju Lee will explore ways to promote friendship among religiously diverse people. According to Marjorie Suchocki, "God is calling us to a new and more intense form of mission activity in the world today - not to convert the world to our own religion, but to convert the world toward friendship."  Lee will look at:

  • ways to bring about transformation within the context of interreligious care and counseling;
  • ways for care and counseling to be transformative, particularly in a multi religious care setting;
  • the usefulness of the relational model for interreligious spiritual care and counseling;
  • the necessity of interreligious care-providers and those they care for developing differentiated selves.
This webinar is therefore intended for religious ministers and care-providers who struggle between the calls to proselytize and to celebrate the differences of religious others.

ACPE to Launch New Website

website construction

The ACPE National Office has been working over the last several months to redesign the ACPE website and upgrade our association management software.  Executive Director Trace Haythorn provided a sneak preview at the annual member meeting in Austin, Texas, in May.  The feedback he received at the meeting has been incorporated into the new site.

The new website is projected to launch mid-June 2014!
