2014 Annual Fund Campaign
|
By Bill Scrivener, Annual Campaign Chair
Ute Schmidt and I will have our first meeting with the Regional Champions in a few days and will take a look at strategies for encouraging regional level giving to our 2014 ACPE Sowing Seeds for Our Holy Work Annual Campaign. As before, our overall goal is to achieve 100% participation in our annual giving campaign. There is no greater indicator of support, as far as outside donors are concerned, than full participation by the membership.
You will be hearing more about ACPE initiatives soon. Meanwhile, I encourage you to contribute to support the Holy Work of ACPE - any amount will be cheerfully received and acknowledged.

Care of the Soul & Spirituality
|
By Robert D. Leas, Supervisor Emeritus
The longstanding interest in spirituality in the North American context is energized in a unique face-to-face way by the recent focus among religious leaders regarding care of the soul. Most recently the focus was highlighted by Professor Herbert Anderson PhD (retired) Lutheran pastoral theologian at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN, who now lives in the Berkeley, California area.[i] Soul care is a religious phenomenon from early religious communities, both Byzantine East and Roman West. There was a strong religious response during the Middle Ages. From early pioneer days in New England, to the twenty first century there has been theological interest in "care of soul."
