3.5 Months Until Christmas:
Time to Think About Holiday Lighting

We know it's been a hot and dry August but we want to ask you: are you thinking about your business after the irrigation season ends?

Many of our customers have seasonal work that slows down considerably in November.  Avoid the drop-off by offering new services.

CPS distributors invites you to talk to our sales staff about professional-grade holiday lighting products from American Lighting

CPS offers full lines of LED lights, bulbs and retro-fit LED lamps, greenery and pre-lit greenery, large displays and various accessories, such as clips, wire and plugs.

We invite contractors, municipalities, event venues and other organizations to learn more about our products and the energy savings associated with LED technology.

Let us help you have a productive and profitable end to your season!

Weld-On How To:  Verify Primer with a Scrape Test

Always apply primer long enough to soften the pipe and fitting surfaces.   The effectiveness of primer can be confirmed with a "Scrape Test".

On a scrap piece of pipe, drag a knife blade across the wet surface.

A small amount of PVC material builds up on the blade when the primer has been applied long enough.

Avoid Common Landscape Lighting Errors

Fixing issues before they happen can go a long way in creating landscape lighting designs that set your business apart.

Avoid these common mistakes:
  • Using the wrong beam spread. The taller the item, the narrower you'll want the beam For a tall and thin tree, a 10 degree fixture is ideal; for a shorter, wider tree/shrub, choose a 35 or 60 degree.
  • Lighting a tree for the distant future. It's better to use a fixture that's right for the tree today, and change it out as the tree grows.
  • Using only one type of fixture across a property. Homeowners rely on professional landscape lighters to bring their property to life. If you're unsure what fixtures to use and where, training can help.
  • Using too many fixtures along a sidewalk. Avoid the airport runway look. Kichler suggests placing fixtures approximately 10 feet apart, staggered on each side of the path.
  • Not listening to homeowners. Get to know homeowners' wants and needs; otherwise you can face a costly redo.

The Irrigation Technicians Favorite Problem Solver

Add-A-Zone is the proven way to independently control two zone valves with only one pair of field wires.

Unlike other "switching" units, the Add-A-Zone behaves just like the valves are fully independent.

Exclusive features:
  • Both valves connected to Add-A-Zone are independently timed and controlled.
  • The two valves can be set to separate watering schedules and programs in the controller.
  • No disruption of the landscape to repair problems.
Solve these problems:
  • Divide existing zones stations with a new valve to correct pressure problems.   Permits the addition of an additional valve to systems that have an open station on the controller.
  • Work around broken field wires and maintain full system functionality.
