Dear Mark Twain Families,

Good morning to you all.  I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend. We sure enjoyed our kids' games Saturday in the California-like temps. 

I hope you all enjoyed the Huckleberry Bash as much as I did. Thank you to those that came out to support our kiddos.  We had an amazing night of fun, friends, and fundraising!  I love seeing the volunteers come together for this event  - even our teachers volunteer to check us in and show they appreciate our support for them - and I love the sense of community I feel at Bash every year.  We will have the final numbers in a few weeks but it looks like we may set a Mark Twain record for donations this year.  The amount of support we provide the school directly impacts our kids in the classroom so thank you for your generosity. 

Please read the message below regarding nominations for the PTO Executive Board and Board of Directors.  Please let us know if you want to help next year.  The PTO does not work without you. Not just your donations but your time and special skills are needed.

• Wednesday, February 24 - Early Dismissal at 12:30

• Friday, February 26 - Rodeo season is here, so that means Friday is Go Texan Day!  Your kids can wear  western attire to school.

• Thursday, March 3 - Math and Science Night

• Friday, March 4 - Kindergarten Round Up **New date. Please see below.

• Friday, March 4 - Parent enrichment with Elizabeth Escobedo rescheduled for May

• Wednesday, March 9 - PTO meeting, 6:30 pm in the library

• Friday, March 11 - Parent Enrichment Book Discussion: Momfulness: Mothering with Mindfulness, Compassion, and Grace by Denise Roy

• Friday, April 8 - Dad's Camp Out **New date

All ZONED families with incoming Kindergartners are welcome and encouraged to attend the 2016 Mark Twain Kindergarten Round-Up.

Children will have the opportunity to visit a Kindergarten classroom and get acquainted with the school while parents receive an overview of the Kindergarten year at Mark Twain.

Please download the Intent to Enroll form and bring your completed form to the Round-Up. You will be given a registration packet and have the opportunity to sign-up for a registration time in April. Registration is done in-person on a designated day at the school.

Please RSVP to Sarah Callahan Baker at callahanbaker@hotmail.com. If you cannot attend the Round-Up but are interested in attending Mark Twain in the fall, please contact Denise Rodriguez at drodrigu@houstonisd.org to schedule a registration time.  

Twain parents - step right up, step right up! The Nominations Committee for the PTO will submit a slate of names for consideration to the PTO Executive Committee at the March PTO meeting.  Do you want to add your name for consideration?  Your spouse's name?  Your friend's name?

Please download an interest/nominations form here and leave it in the folder in the PTO workroom or in the front office. The Nominations Committee needs all names for consideration by Friday, February 26.  Nominations for the PTO Board of Directors positions can be submitted until Wednesday, March 9.
