Dear Mark Twain parents and families, Mark_twain_pto_logo

The 2016 Huckleberry Bash, "Pages from the Past", is finally here and I look forward to seeing you all as your favorite author, character, or even yourself on Friday, February 12 at 7:00 pm at the Julia Ideson Library. Mobile bidding is now open at bidpal.net/huckleberrybash for all parents to bid and purchase Silent Auction items or just browse before the event.  If you do not have a Bash ticket, you can still bid on items through Friday at 3:00 pm.

The Huckleberry Bash is a powerful, collaborative effort among our parents, teachers, and the Mark Twain administration.  The Bash is our largest fundraiser of the year and all proceeds will enhance and support our children's education. Congratulations and much appreciation to all the parents, students, and teachers for their volunteer work and contributions to make this event a night to remember.  I would like to give a big THANK YOU to Madonna Bauch and Brittany Weisser for co-chairing the Bash - they have done an AWESOME job!

I want to invite you all to the next PTO meeting on Wednesday, February 10 at 8:15 am in the cafeteria.  We will discuss the PTO Board nominations process and announce the Nominating Committee.  There will be a final update from the Bash Team, a recap of Bingo Night, and an update from the SPARK Park team.

Calling all Twain Dad's - Join us tonight, February 9, at 6:45 pm for a Dad's Club Happy Hour at the Red River Ice House located at 10308 Main St (South Main feeder road at West Bellfort).  Please bring a bottle of wine to donate to the Huckleberry Bash Wine Pull. Email Mike Feighl to learn more.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Volunteer Meeting:
Thursday, February 11 8:00 am in the cafeteria

Hi, Hola, Bonjour, Gruezi, Ahlan, Konnichi Wa, Annyonhaseyo, Namaste,

Join us for the 14th annual International Festival. Parents and students are invited to represent your country with a table display, traditional foods and performances AND the entire Mark Twain community is invited to enjoy the amazing experience.

Here are some examples of how you can be part of the festival:
  • host a country table and display flags, maps, souvenirs, pictures, postcards, things your country exports, food samples. Gather friends together and make it a team effort.
  • share yours or your child's talents with a traditional dance, singing, instrumental performances, or martial arts demonstration.
  • volunteer to help organize the event - you DO NOT have to be from another country to help. Having a special interest in one is perfectly sufficient.
If you want to help prepare for the festival, please attend a planning meeting at 8:00 am in the cafeteria:

Thursday, February 11
Wednesday, March 2
Tuesday, March 29

To sign up for a performance or to host a country display, please email Sumi Ono at m.ohno21@mac.com.
