Dear Parents,

As we head into our Thanksgiving Break I want to thank all of you for supporting and participating in our school sponsored events.

We had a successful Book Fair last week with several guest readers, a wonderful Storybook Parade and fun Family Night. All of the children were able to browse the books and they all went home with at least one book. A special thank you to Jenny Tcharmtchi, Camora Kuo and all of their volunteers for organizing this event.

Important reminders:
  • Thanksgiving Break: November 25-29.
  • Monday, November 30: Author, F. Scott Savage will visit students in grades 3-5

  • Wednesday, December 2: Student Led Conferences grades 1-5

  • IOWA test administration: December 3-11 all grades. Testing will be each morning. Please make sure your child arrives on time and eats a good breakfast!
  • Due to IOWA test administration, Field Day will be held Friday, December 18.
  • Thursday, December 17: 1st grade music program
  • Friday, December 18: Magnet applications and Dual Language applications due.
  • Winter Holiday: December 21 - January 4. Students return to school on Tuesday, January 5.
Gentle reminders:
  • Spring 2016 Extended Day registration has begun. Email Stacey at skarr@houstonisd.org for more information.
  • Living Tree - if you have not received an invitation to Living Tree from your classroom teacher, please check with them. All parents should be connected to Living Tree. It is the fastest way to get out quick, important messages.
  • Dogs - please do not bring dogs into the building at any time. Dogs should not be chained to the fences or the Mark Twain bench.
  • Cafeteria - we have a large number of parents and relatives that like to eat lunch at school. Due to our numbers it is necessary to restrict the number of friends a child may take to the guest table. Children may invite one friend to eat lunch. Please respect our cafeteria guidelines.
  • Please do not u-turn into the carpool lane on Braes. It is a dangerous practice.
Have a wonderful holiday week with family and friends!

Huckleberry Park
Block Walking Event
Saturday, December 5
10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Meet in the driveway of
3754 Merrick

Please join us to solicit support for our beloved Huckleberry Park.  Wear your walking shoes and bring the kids!  Hot chocolate and cookies will be served at 9:30 am.

Plan to spend a couple of hours drumming up awareness and funding to re-open our park at Mark Twain.  We will provide clip boards, door hangers, pens and a smile.

Thank you in advance for your time and support. What better way to teach your child about service to their community and school than by involving them in a community activity.

Please RSVP to Marc Ziegler at (827) 236-6131 so we can have enough provisions for all. Please contact huckleberrypark@yahoo.com for more information.
