Dear Parents,

In the red folders you will find a letter from the district regarding overcrowding.   On May 14, the HISD Board of Education is slated to vote on a plan giving students in the Twain zone the option of attending Mark Twain or the Rice School. I will provide an update once the board votes on this proposal.

The Voice Survey will come home in the red folders. Please take a few moments and fill this survey out. The survey is given to students, staff and parents at all HISD schools and is a way for us to receive feedback in a number of different areas. Your voice does make a difference.

Saturday, a large number of our students participated in the final UIL competition. Our Twain team took 3rd place out of 21 schools. It was an exciting day and I would like to thank all of our parent and staff volunteers that have worked with the children all year.

The Twain Triathlon took place last Sunday and it was a really fun event for the children. Students from all grades participated and their smiles at the finish line were priceless. Organizing a triathlon is a huge undertaking and I'm grateful to the parents that took this on - the children love it.

  • Extended Day registration forms for fall 2015 will be available in the front office beginning Wednesday, May 6.
  • Summer school will be held at Mark Twain from June 3 - July 1. Summer school is primarily for students that do not meet promotion standards. If you have questions, please contact Kathleen Blakeslee.
  • On Friday, May 15 the staff will host a continental breakfast for all volunteers. Please stop by and let us thank you for all that you do.

Have a great week.

Melissa Patin

Dear Parents,

On behalf of my teachers I want to thank you for the tremendous outpouring of support and encouragement they received last week from the parent community. The doors looked phenomenal, the food was delicious,  and the many other acts of kindness were greatly appreciated. My heartfelt thanks for showing your support during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Fondly,

Melissa Patin
