Dear parents and families,

I want to invite you all to the  PTO meeting on Wednesday, February 11 at 6:30 pm in the library. We will discuss the PTO nomination process and announce the Nominations Committee for the 2015-16 school year. If you are interested in being on the PTO Board next year, I encourage you to attend. We will have an update from the Hard Rockin' Huckleberry Bash Crew and hear about HISD's overcrowding initiatives. Childcare is available for potty-trained children.

Thank you to Jenny Tcharmtchi, Mrs. Cowan and their team on a wonderful Fine Arts Night. What a great community event. It looks like it gets bigger and better every year. Kudos!

Twain in the Fast Lane!  The Huckleberry Bash is right around the corner and I look forward to seeing you all in your Rock Star attire on Friday, February 13 at 6:30 pm at Audi Central. The Huckleberry Bash is a powerful, collaborative effort among our parents, teachers, and the Mark Twain administration. The Bash is our largest fundraiser and all proceeds go toward enhancing our children's education. Congratulations and much appreciation to all the parents, students, and teachers for their volunteer work and contributions to make this event a night to remember. I want to thank Chastiti Houck and Madonna Bauch for co-chairing the Bash - they have done an awesome job. Get ready to dance, indulge, spend a little money to benefit our school, and have a Twaintastic time at the Bash next Friday!

I hope y'all have a wonderful week!

When children as young as 8 are pressured to play one sport year-round ... When every fourth grader has a smart phone ... When your child's friends don't want to come to your house because you don't have the "right" video games ... When your gut tells you something's not quite right about that party, but "everyone else is letting their kid go" ... Do you go with your instinct -or not?

LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!
