Dear Parents,

This week is Computer Science Education week. We will participate with other schools across the country in the Hour of Code.   Students in all classes will participate in problem-solving and logical reasoning activities through game play. The Hour of Code, "is designed to demystify code and show that computer science is not rocket-science. Anybody can learn the basics." - Hadi Partovi, founder and CEO of code.org

Student Led Conferences are Wednesday, December 10 from 3:15 - 4:45 pm. If you did not fill out the form sent home on November 24, please contact your child's teacher and arrange a time. A Student Led Conference is an opportunity for you to listen to your child talk about his/her learning. The children will share work samples from their portfolio. Your role is to be an active listener, asking meaningful questions and giving words of encouragement. If, after the conference, you have questions for the teacher, please schedule an appointment at another time to discuss these issues.

On Wednesday, December 17, we'll hold a special Retirement Reception for Glenn Deering in the library. Parents are invited to stop by between 2:15 -3:15 pm. At 3:30 the staff will honor Glenn in the library.

Other upcoming events:

  • December 10- PTO Meeting at 6:30 pm in the library
  • December 11- 4th grade performs Annie at 6:30 pm

Join Louise Hayes, Ph.D., a retired special education teacher specializing in learning disabilities and founder of Brain Growth and Repair, as she explores and educates us on brain development, how it works (and sometimes doesn't) and how to make it work better.

Her work, Brain Growth and Repair is based on the brain-mind-body approach which is the perception that as we maximize the cooperation of brain, mind and body, through movement, touch, and intention, we bring about intended change.

Brain Growth and Repair teaches movements to encourage our brain to grow those connections at any age. Visit braingrowthandrepair.com to learn more.

Did you know that Parent Enrichment has set up a Living Tree group?  If you want to be added to this group for meeting reminders and updates, please email kahlavet@gmail.com.
