Dear parents,Mark_twain_pto_logo

On Monday, HISD held a final review of all magnet and specialty programs to identify programs that don't meet district enrollment criteria or state academic standards. The district decided to
place our magnet program on probation.

The committee felt, given the demographic trends, the percent of out-of-zone magnet students in our program is unlikely to increase in the coming years. The school will continue to offer the Literacy Development Center program and we are committed to continuing LDC in the future. We have always been able to face challenges and solve problems - we will continue to do so.

Please know that as a school community we are committed to provide quality curriculum and programs to meet the needs of all students. Our focus won't change: To provide your child with an enriching school experience that prepares him/her for future success.

If you are a current magnet student then your status will not change.  We are taking applications for the 2015-2016 school year. If you have questions, please contact our school office at (713) 295-5230.

The Book Fair was a grand success!  Thanks to Holly Lee and Jennifer Fernandez for coordinating a wonderful, child-centered event. It was simply wonderful watching the children buying books and walking down the hallways engrossed in those books. On behalf of the staff and students at Mark Twain - thanks so much!

Important announcements:
