Dear Mark Twain Families,

The Shared Decision Making Committee (SDMC) is an advisory committee to the principal.  The Mark Twain SDMC is made up of teacher, staff, parent, and community representatives. The committee meets on the third Friday of most months to discuss issues related to budgeting, curriculum, staff development, and staffing.  The committee members are elected by the faculty and parents are selected through PTO membership.

The minutes of the monthly meetings are located on the community board outside of the main office. If any member of the school community has a non-personnel issue that they would like addressed during the shared-decision making process, those issues can be directed to me at mpatin@houstonisd.org or to any member of the SDMC listed below. If a community member wishes to attend a meeting to present an issue they should make that request to me 48 hours prior to the scheduled meeting.

Meetings are at 3:30 pm on:

October 17, November 21, January 16, February 20, April 17, and May 22

SDMC members:

Naty Barrera, Jennifer Moore, Diana Nathan, Janis Isgur, Jennifer Dennis, Shelley Rota, Dean Lowry, Pansy Gee, Erin Diaz, Tony Houck, Sydni Mossman, and Kathryn Shultz

A reminder that you are invited to attend the next PTO board meeting at 6:00 pm and All Parent PTO meeting at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 8 in the cafeteria.

Have a wonderful week,

Melissa Patin

Principal
