The Story Behind The Photo . . .
                Cozumel Guitar Fish
By Barbara Petersen, Overland Park, Kansas
Barbara Petersen was diving in Cozumel when she  noticed a fish that is rare for those waters -- a guitar fish.
Here is Barbara's Story Behind the Photo:

"I took the photo on August 12th, 2014. We were diving the sand flats at Punta Sur in about 25 to 30 feet of water.
I had never seen one of these fish before, and Carlos, one of the guys we dive with, had never seen one either.
It was probably 3' long so it was pretty good sized.
The guitar fish stayed on the bottom and didn't move while being photographed."

Photo Equipment:
I was using a Canon G-10 with an Ikelite D-51 strobe.

                                 Save Our Sharks
By Jamie Pollack, Shark Angels Director of Operations
Shark Angels employ innovative education, media and advocacy programs to protect sharks, the ocean's apex species. The health of the world's oceans depends on healthy and thriving shark populations, and every creature on earth depends on healthy oceans for survival.

With up to 73,000,000 sharks killed a year, shark populations are down over 90% and many species could go extinct during our lifetimes.
Shark Angels believe that grassroots outreach, viral media, and creative campaigns often aimed at teaching and inspiring youth will create a global, positive movement to save sharks - and the oceans. And it's working. For over five years, Shark Angels has been involved in some of the most compelling and highest impact ocean campaigns around the world.

By supporting Shark Angels with your donations, you'll fuel these campaigns and play a vital role in protecting not just a threatened species, but also our oceans.
