What's Happening Around the School...
-No Shave November!- no shave november
The male TEMS staff members (MOTEMS) raised money throughout the month of November by either having students donate change to keep new beards growing or offering to shave existing beards.  They also hosted a staff breakfast on the last day before Thanksgiving so the entire staff had a chance to contribute. They were able to raise over $2300 to send to the American Cancer Society! Thank you everyone for their contributions!

-Kindness Day-
On Friday, Dec. 11, TEMS will honor those affected by the 2012 Newtown, CT tragedy by holding its third "Kindness Day".  The theme of kindness has emerged in several tributes around the country.
Kindness Day at TEMS will have two components. First, students and staff will be invited to wear green and white (Sandy Hook Elementary School's colors) on Friday. Second, Bulldog Ambassadors and Student Council representatives will help facilitate a Random Acts of Kindness activity.  Some students will begin the day with a Random Acts of Kindness card;  when they do something kind for another student, they will pass the card on. Hopefully, the next student will do something kind for another student, and the cycle will continue. The Kindness cards will include the following message: "You have been served with a random act of kindness. Please perform your own random act of kindness, initial your name on the back and pass this card along. Let's see how much kindness we can spread!"

From the Principal....
This month, TEMS will continue practicing dynamic emergency preparedness exercises such as fire drills and lockdown drills.  These planned activities are designed to help students and staff members practice in case there is a true emergency.  During these exercises, students are asked to be quiet and attentive, and there is an emphasis on being aware of our surroundings.  Since we need to be adaptive and flexible during emergencies, the students may be asked to practice using different exit routes, waiting silently in a locked classroom or evacuating to a safer area.  Parents should feel free to discuss these educational exercises with their children, and/or call school with any particular questions.  Thank you.

Your Principal,
Andy Phillips
