Greetings!
This February newsletter gives you emailing tips and the know how to automatically format data based on relative performance. Use this skill to improve your ability to make quick and accurate decisions. This month, we shine the light on 'Global Links', a wonderful organization that improves life for those locally and around the globe.

Write Your Emails
for the Greatest Impact!
Are your emails read? Before writing your email, think about how your recipients will 'read' the email. Chances are they will only scan the content. So how can you grab their attention to what matters most? Make it easy for the recipient to focus on what's most important:
- Capture attention in the subject line.
- Use bullets or numbering.
- Identify required actions (bold, underline, color code by person accountable)
- Clearly state expectations, such as "Action Required" or "FYI only" - help the reader know what is expected.
- Use a separate email for each topic. This allows you to easily end conversations on one item while still discussing others.

Microsoft Office Tip: Use Excel's Conditional Formatting to Make Confident Business Decisions.
Automatically Identify the Top 20%
Need to instantaneously identify top performers? Bottom Performers? Both? With Conditional Formatting, you can automatically highlight the top 20% of performers (products, people, regions, etc.).
Step-by-Step instructions: First, select the desired data range. Now, select Conditional Formatting from the Home tab. Next, select Top/Bottom Rules from the resulting menu, and then select the Top 10%... command. In the Top 10% box, change the percentage to 20%, select the desired formatting from the drop down, and then select OK. Your top 20% are now highlighted.

Community Focus
Global Links is a medical relief and development organization, based in Pittsburgh but with an international perspective and reach. They are dedicated to improving the health and lives of people in developing countries, while providing hospitals in our region with a socially and environmentally responsible alternative to disposing of tons of medical surplus -- unused or still-useful materials.
Watch their new video for a sample of their outreach.
There are great questions answered on the FAQ Site page of Global Links. This link will answer questions such as:
- What does Global Links do?
- Why does medical surplus exist in U.S. hospitals?
- From whom do you receive your supplies?
- How is Global Links different from other organizations that donate medical materials?
- Do you ever provide medical materials to local organizations?
- How is Global Links funded? And how much do you spend on overhead?
And the greatest of all the questions, "How can I become involved in Global Link's work?" You can sign up to take a Global Links Health Tour. Tours will be held on various days through April 17th.
