Ohio's NEW 5 Star Quality Rating System
Step Up To Quality

On October 1, 2013 Ohio began the implementation of the revised 5-Star Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) called Step Up to Quality. Step Up To Quality recognizes learning and development programs that exceed licensing health and safety standards.

As of October 1, 2013, rated programs can apply for an increase to their rating in the new 5-Star Step Up To Quality system. By mid-October, unrated programs will be able to submit an initial registration. All registrations will be completed and submitted using the Ohio Child Licensing and Quality System (OCLQS). If you would like support in achieving, maintaining, or increasing your star rating, please contact Jennifer Bartlebaugh, CCRC's SUTQ Coordinator at 440-960-7187 Ext. 225 or jenniferb@ccrcinc.com

October is SIDS Awareness Month
Turn up the volume on Infant Mortality

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has designated October as SIDS Awareness Month.  SIDS and SUIDS (Sudden Unexpected Infant Death) are major causes of infant death.
Sleep-related suffocation is the leading cause of infant-injury death and is preventable.  Babies should sleep Alone, on their Backs, and in a Crib free of blankets, pillows, stuffed toys, and bumpers.  All parents, parents-to-be, and caregivers need to be educated about safe sleep for babies.
