Notable Quote
"This is a developing country, obviously, and being there as a volunteer is quite an adjustment, and also a privilege, to be part of their daily life. To witness how a country deals with too few resources, too little infrastructure, and too little prosperity is a stressful but rewarding (and in a way necessary) education for anyone from the developed world."

The Net Connection
November 2012
|
Dear Friends,
As I mentioned in the October Net Connection, HVO has been hard at work ensuring our volunteers have the resources they need to succeed. In the interest of improving our resources and meeting ever-changing technological needs, HVO will be rolling-out a new version of our HVO KnowNET next month.
As most of you know, the HVO KnowNET is a password-protected tool, open to all HVO members, volunteers, and overseas colleagues. The main function of the HVO KnowNET is to orient volunteers, providing the resources they need to prepare for their overseas assignments. We also strive to promote educational exchange, providing access to many of the resources past volunteers have helped to develop so that our overseas colleagues might utilize them. The HVO KnowNET will continue to serve in these capacities, though you will note some major changes in its appearance and organization.
The current HVO KnowNET will continue to be available until the end of the year, and we will provide opportunities for HVO leadership, scheduled volunteers, members and on-site contacts to gain access to the new KnowNET throughout December. Keep a lookout for upcoming details about the new KnowNET and how you can gain access to this resource.
We are thrilled to present this update, and hope you will find these improvements beneficial as you work with us to transform the future of global health.
