Dear Friends of the Wakefield Estate:
The Wakefield Estate is very excited to participate in a creative opportunity to build community support for our work creating a learning landscape accessible to all. And we want you to join us!
One week from today, we will be participating in the Giving Common Challenge, a new initiative of the Boston Foundation in collaboration with the area's nonprofits.
The Giving Common Challenge, which takes place over the course of 36 hours beginning on Oct 10th, is an innovative web-based technology platform that provides comprehensive profiles of nonprofit organizations across the Commonwealth - and makes online charitable giving easy and quick.
Beginning at 8:00 am on October 10th and extending to 8:00 pm on October 11th, we will be joining with more than 500 Massachusetts non-profits to raise money together and compete for prizes that range from $1000 to $25,000.
Your donation will enable us to involve more youth and adults in our innovative programs here at the Wakefield Estate in subjects ranging from horticultural and archaeology to collections management and science-based field experiences for children.

How can you help?
- Spread the word: tell your friends that you will be making a donation to support the Wakefield Estate's unique programming and encourage them to join you!
- Mark your calendar for October 10th and 11th, and join in the Challenge!
- Post to your wall on Facebook and let your friends know about the Challenge and how their donations can help us win time-based prizes.
On the morning of October 10th, we will send out a reminder e-newsletter with a link to our secure donation page through the Giving Common Challenge site. All credit card donations on Oct. 10th & 11th over $25 are counted in the challenge. More importantly, each individual donation helps build the critical support we need to expand our cutting edge programs in archaeology, outdoor/science education, horticulture, collections management, and historic preservation.
Please stay tuned and join with us in this unique opportunity to support the work of the Wakefield Estate.
Sincerely, Mark Smith, Executive Director
