As 2015 draws to a close, we can look back and see that we have accomplished a lot - together. Here are some of our milestones: Our Speakers Bureau is being re-energized with 20 volunteers who are getting ready to go out into the community in 2016. This is a great chance to talk story with groups large and small across our communities. Let us know if you'd like a talk at your church or temple, rotary or seniors club or any other place where people come together. " A Guide to Advance Care Planning: Making Life Decisions" (also known as "the booklet") has been re-printed. 40,000 copies are available for anybody from across the state. We have undertaken a major update of our Advance Directive. Now on three pages and more user friendly, it accommodates the wishes of patients and their loved ones in more detail. As an added bonus, thanks to the feedback from the Notary community, page 3 now complies with all the state requirements. The PDF file of the Advance Directive is on our dedicated web page. Looking ahead: The " Translation Project" is in full swing and in 2016 we will have six key documents, POLST and the Hawaii Advance Directive among them, in 10 languages. Details in a separate eNewsletter, once it is all on our website. And we look forward to the New Year and the tremendous opportunities in Hawai'i as we work to improve care for seriously ill people, their loved ones and professionals who help to take care of them. ___________________________________________
