Guy Bichele - Creative Flower Photography
Sharon Arts Center, Peterborough, NH
Last Dance by Guy Bichele
Hardly anyone can resist photographing flowers. They are everywhere and they present an endless array of colors, shapes and patterns.

In this workshop we will explore new ways of seeing and photographing flowers to create beautiful images that go beyond the usual record shot of a flower. We will experiment with light, focus and backgrounds to achieve truly unique images. Capturing images that express beauty and our own personal vision will be the object of this workshop.

Participants are asked to bring their camera, camera manual and whatever lenses they have (especially macro, and prime lenses if they have them, in addition to the usual zoom lenses).

Also, people are asked to bring a bouquet of flowers in a vase to photograph and share.

Date: Saturday, May 16, 2015
Location: Sharon Arts Center
20 Depot St Unit 40, Peterborough, NH 03458
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

These monotype, monoprint and collagraph prints are affordably for sale as well as the small book, "Five Fantastic Frogs" in which the illustrations are found.

"By age twelve, I made my first woodcut. Printmaking has become my main focus, because of its versatility by using painting, drawing, and texture.  I include dry point or collagraph with monotype or monoprint to help keep the artwork new. I continue to sketch from my kayak while visiting ponds and lakes."

"My challenge was to create a small book inspired by the artist Beatrix Potter. Growing up my family would read her little books at bedtime. Not long ago, I visited her home to see what gave her the vision to write and illustrate her little books."

A Spring Sampler
Petersham Art Center, Petersham, MA

The Petersham Art Center welcomes Sue Morello, of Sheldon Farm in Barre, as she presents a free program on the history of antique samplers. She will display and discuss her own fine collection, which includes samplers from the 1750's to the early 1800's.

Ms. Morello began collecting samplers over 40 years ago and her collection has grown to include many excellent and unique examples of the homemade artworks. During the 18th and 19th centuries, it was expected that young girls would learn homemaking skills, like sewing and needlework, as well as perfect their reading and writing abilities, by working on handsewn and embroidered samplers with themes of the alphabet, biblical sayings, and even family trees of their genealogy.
