Len Haug, Eagle Hill Cultural Center, Hardwick, MA

Approximately 30 pieces of GALA Member Len Haug's art work are now on display at the Eagle Hill Cultural Center in Hardwick through the end of April. The Center is located at 242 Old Petersham Rd and the gallery is opened from 3:30 to 5 pm weekdays or by appointment. The Cultural Center hosts professional theatrical and musical events throughout the school year. Eagle Hill is a boarding school for grades 8 through 12. While members may have seen many of Len's works on display, a visit to attend one of the Center's Spring events is definitely worth the trip. GALA Member Len Haug has been juried into the 36th Annual National Art Exhibit sponsored by the Monmouth Museum located in Lincroft, New Jersey. His piece "Morning Sunlight" was selected along with the work of 80 other artists from across the U.S. The exhibit will be on display in the museum's main gallery through March 9th. Grey Beard Artists - GALA Art Center, Gardner, MA
| GALA is proud to present Grey Beard Artists, a show featuring veteran GALA members James O'Rourke, Gary Ruuska and Joe Smith. Selected works by these award-winning artists will be shown at the GALA Art Center from March 7th through March 29th. An artists' reception will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 6:30 to 9:00 pm.
All three artists are recent winners of Popular Choice Awards at GALA shows. James O'Rourke of Townsend, MA (www.jims-art-shop.com) has been an artist for almost 40 years. His work is primarily land and seascape, still life and object painting and drawing, and his preferred media are oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, colored pencil and pastel.

Lisa Regopoulos will be teaching a one day workshop "Painting Sand Dunes in Pastel" at Sanctuary Arts, Eliot Maine, Saturday, March 7th, 9:30 -3:30 p.m. Bring your own sand dune photo and learn the techniques to create sand dunes with movement, depth and light. Your interchangeable lens camera (DSLR or new Mirrorless type) is a powerful photographic tool. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by all the choices they offer, metering and exposure modes, lens choices, flash options, JPEG vs. RAW, etc. Learn how to take advantage of the flexibility of your interchangeable lens camera to become a better photographer. This workshop will help you to make the most of you interchangeable lens camera whether you use your camera for family portraits, landscapes, or other subjects. The workshop is intended for amateurs who wish to practice their techniques. Aperture priority, shutter speed priority or auto, what does all of this mean? We will explore these settings on your camera and how they affect your photographs. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to access these controls on your camera and develop basic techniques to make more creative photographs.This combination of instruction, practical application, and real-time feedback will allow you to walk away with the foundational skills and confidence necessary to make the most of your camera. Kate Shaffer of Outside the Lines is taking registrations for a 3 day "Textures in Acrylic" workshop. Mar 20 - 22, 2015. Friday 7 - 9 pm. Sat and Sun 9 - 4. Cost is $125 for 16 hours of instruction. Friday small demo and canvas prep for Saturday's class. On Sat you will have guided experimentation and play to discover what all the textures mediums do and how they react with various viscosities of acrylic paints. At the end of the day you will prepare your final canvas using the mediums you have chosen from your experiments. Sunday you will work on your final piece. Texture mediums are included. You will need to bring the paints, brushes and various common tools like pallet knives. Supply list will be emailed upon registration. GALA is pleased to launch a new fundraising program in partnership with Benefit Wines to offer GALA private label wines. We will offer six varieties of wine, each with a custom label featuring the artwork of our members. The public will be able to purchase the GALA branded wines online or via a paper form and our nonprofit will receive a portion of the proceeds. You are invited to submit your artwork to be considered for selection by the Wine Label Committee.

The Wachusett Reservoir Art Path (WRAP) 2015, a self-guided tour of artists' open studios, homes, and galleries around the reservoir, has something for every art lover. Area arts include pottery, woodwork, African art, Russian icons,watercolors, oils & acrylics, fashion accessories, and antiques. This year will also feature artist sales space at The Mill Restaurant in West Boylston, where you can also enjoy a bite or refreshment on your tour of the Wachusett Reservoir Art Path.

The Historical Society of Cheshire County has just released the prospectus & registration form for their exciting new art exhibit "Treasured Places, Protected Spaces" scheduled for May- Sept 2015. Meeting Minutes and Note Taking (Ongoing Opportunity)
The Art Center Committee and the GALA Board of Directors is in need of someone who might be willing to sit in on meetings and take notes and write up minutes and transmit them electronically. Board Meetings are on the 2nd Wednesday of the month and other meetings are usually on a week night, monthly or as needed, negotiated with the members.

Fundraising Seminar Attendee (Individual/Single Event Opportunity)
