"The Art of Miniatures" at Jaffrey Civic Center, Jaffrey, NH
The Jaffrey Civic Center is pleased to host this exceptional exhibit of work by Michele Carter and Dan Worsham called "The Art of Miniatures" in the first floor Display Cases from Friday, October 17 through Thursday, November 13th.

Dan Worsham and his wife, Michele Carter, are creative partners in PepperWood Miniatures, Dan is now creating one-inch scale oil paintings that are copies of famous master works, and Art Nouveau style lamps and windows using classic Tiffany patterns as well as his own designs. He saw an opportunity to take his vast knowledge of oil painting and art glass and applying it to miniatures. With their exhibit at the Jaffrey Civic Center, they hope to introduce visitors to the art of 1/12th scale miniatures. Many hours of research go into making and finding historically correct furniture and accessories for the historic roomboxes that Michele creates. And both Dan and Michele build some of their own furniture for their rooms.  They hope you will agree that these exhibits are not your average dollhouse hobby.

The Jaffrey Civic Center is located at 40 Main Street, Jaffrey, New Hampshire, next to Library, parking in rear. Hours are Tues: 10-6, Wed-Fri 1-5, Sat 10-2. Admission is always free. ART CLASSES & INSTRUCTION

Basket Making Class - Petersham Art Center, Petersham, MA
Basket Making at Petersham Art Center

The Petersham Art Center is pleased to announce that Susan Morello from Sheldon Farm Baskets of Barre will return again by popular demand to present a basket making class on Saturday, November 8, from 9AM-12Noon. The class will learn to make a sturdy market basket that can be used to gather fruit, carry provisions, display bouquets, or for picnicking and just plain fun.

Sue Morello (pictured) is a retired teacher who has been handcrafting Shaker-style baskets for about 25 years. The project will be a market basket made from weavers of ash and an oaken handle. The basket is deep and spacious, which makes it a good size to easily carry and hold many treasures. These one-of-a-kind baskets will add a personal creative touch to your home and become family heirlooms to hand down over time.

The class is $15 for members and $30 for non-members. There is a $16 materials fee which is
paid to the instructor. Teens to adults are invited to attend. Call the Petersham Art Center at
978-724-3415 for more information and to register. Space is limited so call soon! The Art Center
is located at 8 North Street, off Route 32, near the Petersham Common.
