We are actively seeking a volunteer to take minutes at our monthly GALA board meetings.  This involves attending the meetings on the second Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m. in Gardner, taking notes of motions and decisions, writing up the minutes and distributing to board members.  The time commitment is the monthly meeting and time it takes to prepare minutes for distribution. Please note that computer skills are a requirement.

James Trask at the Jaffrey Civic Center -Jaffrey, NH
The Jaffrey Civic Center is pleased to exhibit the fine watercolors by James S Trask (deceased 2008) in the first floor Auditorium Gallery from June 6 through Saturday, July 5, 2014.  A former forester of thirty-five years, he painted what he knew and surrounded him.  The majority of this work is based on inspirations from the family woodlots which he inherited in the towns of Chesterfield and Swanzey, New Hampshire.

Hand Blown Glass by Alex Kalish

The Jaffrey Civic Center is pleased to announce the exhibit of hand-blown glass by Alex Kalish in the first floor Display Cases from June 27th through July 24th.

Alex is a juried member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, and his work has been sold throughout the USA and abroad.

Joe Smith at Int'l Society of Scratchboard Artists Exhibit - Cary, NC
A piece by Joe Smith entitled "Branches" has been accepted into the International Society of Scratchboard Artists 3rd Annual Juried Exhibition, to be held June 27 to August 18 at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center in Cary, North Carolina. 

The exhibition is an International art competition dedicated to presenting scratchboard art as a fine art medium.

Alicia Drakiotes at Passionate Pursuits Exhibitions - Keene, NH
Alicia Drakiotes has been accepted into the "Passionate Pursuits" exhibition to be held at the Thorne Sagendorph Gallery.

Her exhibited works are among her painted "Vintage Americana" pieces which portray aged vehicles and structures.

Discover how this one day workshop will give you the knowledge and experience of creating a waterfall scene with drama, movement and light effect.  Learn to let the paper work for you as you acquire the technique to develop your own eye-opening pastel painting. Composition, application of pastel and surfaces will be discussed.  Work from your own photo or choose one from a variety that will be available.  The workshop will begin with a demo, followed by uninterrupted painting time with plenty of instruction in a supportive environment.

Gospelfest 2014 Community Choir Auditions - Boston, MA
OPEN AUDITIONS:  Gospel Fest Community Choir.  Open Auditions Monday July 14th and Thursday July 17th at Boston City Hall from 6 to 8 p.m.  Must be 18 years of age min, prior choir experience, prepared to perform a 30 second gospel song of their choice.  In it's 14th year, Gospelfest is Boston's premier Gospel Showcase of contemporary and traditional gospel melodies.

A.R.T. Resource Trust

August 1 Deadline for Artist's Resource Trust (A.R.T.) Fund

Grants available in painting, sculpture, printmaking, or mixed media to mid-career artists with financial need in New England and Columbia and Northeast Dutchess counties, NY. Non-profit organizations wishing to show, commission, or purchase work by mature artists living in New England may also apply. Grants range from $2,000 to $10,000. Applications and artwork must be submitted through our online grant portal at Deadline August 1.
