The days are long and warm and July is almost upon us. Which means, besides bbqs and fireworks, our anniversary! I can hardly believe another year has gone by and that is has already been 3 fast and fun years since we took over Yarns on First.

We will  be taking a summer holiday this year, and the shop will be closed from Sunday June 28th through Monday July 6th, so make sure you come down during our sale to stock up!!

New summer hours:

We will reopen Sundays this fall!
Sweet Georgia
We are thrilled to have received another shipment of Sweet Georgia, an artisan yarn company based in Vancouver that is passionate about saturated colors and luxurious fibers. We brought in their Superwash Worsted, which is 100% soft, squishy merino, and their Tough Love Sock, 80% merino and 20% nylon. The colorways are truly stunning! Marcie knit a stunning  shawl by Stephen West out of the sock weight- Clockwork, a perfect pattern to display the gorgeously variegated sock yarn. Utilizing just one skein of the Worsted, I whipped up an adorable toddler sized hat and mitt set, using 2 patterns from Tin Can Knits Simple Collection. This is a great collection of user friendly patterns that have the added benefit of being free!

Malabrigo Baby Silkpaca Lace
We are huge fans of Malabrigo around here- and who could blame us? Their colorways are sensational, unique, and their price point is always fabulous. We are happy to introduce a new yarn to our Malabrigo line up. Silkpaca is a gorgeous yarn- light and incredibly soft baby alpaca plied with delicate, drapey silk. It is, like all Malabrigo yarns, hand dyed and has a lovely sheen to it. With 420 yards per skein it is a dreamy yarn all around! While an obvious choice for shawls and scarves, Silkpaca would also make a beautiful lightweight sweater.
Recipe
It's salad season!
We were recently gifted an enormous bunch of tarragon by a sweet customer. We immediately made up a large batch of this dressing  and have been putting it on everything, from salad to steamed veggies and grilled meat.

Tarragon Dresssing
1/2 Cup Mayo
1 tsp  lemon zest
1/2 Cup lemon juice
1/4 Cup chopped tarragon
1 tbls dijon mustard
salt & pepper to taste

Whirl all ingredients in food processor until smooth. Refrigerate and Enjoy!
