Yarns on First
It's been a busy November already around the shop, with lots of new yarn coming in and plans for holiday knitting and crocheting.  Can you believe how fast the holidays are approaching? Only one more month to get those gifts going!!
Twirl
We are so happy to have this beautiful yarn back in stock. Mary Pettis-Sarley lives with her husband and about a million animals on a gorgeous ranch in west Napa. She has been working this land for over 30 years, and has combined her love of fiber with ranching. Her fiber friends here include several breeds of sheep, angora goats and rabbits, llamas and alpacas that she blends to form fabulous, truly local, yarns. Marcie and I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon at Mary's ranch, meeting the animals that produce the incredible fiber and experiencing first had the plants she uses for her natural dyes. It is magical place!
Burly Spun
Are you an Outlander fan? Marcie and I both have read the books and are enjoying the new show. We've especially loved seeing all the fabulous knitwear on the show- lots of chunky knits to keep the ladies warm in drafty castles and chilly moors! Between Cascade's Magnum, Malabrigo's Rasta, and Berroco's Inca Tweed, we've got lots of bulky yarns perfect for all your Outlander knitting! We also brought in a new super bulky yarn from Brown Sheep, Burly Spun, and created a snuggly cowl, worthy of Claire and the Scottish Highlands! Free pattern! This yarn knits or crochets up incredibly fast, so is also perfect for your last minute holiday gifts!
Manos del Uruguay
Our shelves are bursting full of colorful Manos Silk Blend, a supple DK weight yarn. Soft and shiny, Silk Blend gives good stitch definition to cables and other texture patterns. Its jewel-like colors work beautifully in stranded colorwork designs. SIlk Blend is 70% merino and 30% silk.
Malabrigo Worsted
Malabrigo
Two giant boxes just arrived from Malabrigo, full of Rasta, Worsted, and Silky Merino. The worsted is a great sweater yarn, as well as being excellent for felting. Silky Merino is perfect for accessories- think fingerless gloves and shawls. And Rasta is of course great for all your quick holiday gifts! This yarn has been flying off the shelves, so don't wait!
Snowflake Sweater
Looking for the perfect gift for a special someone on your gift list? This adorable sweater is just the thing, and the ideal antidote to all those less than lovely holiday sweaters out there! The pattern is by Emily Wessel of Tin Can Knits, and runs from newborn sizes all the way to 4XL. The lace yoke adds a bit of sparkle to a classically simple silhouette. Marcie knit this version out of Berroco Vintage DK.
Fringe Supply Co
Have you seen these fabulous items from Fringe? The tote bags are lovely- sturdy and made in the USA! We love these coil-less stitch markers; slender and elegant in antiqued brass, they do their job without getting in your way. And hot off the presses are these amazing Christmas cards, with a 1914 illustration and Santa's claim that he "knits all his own stockings, in the off season of course!"
