Project Inspiration
June, 2014
The foggy, cool mornings have arrived and my kids have finished up the school year, so summer must be at hand! The sidewalk in front of the shop is complete and our new trees are small, but we are very happy to have them in the ground. We have been busy as always working on shop samples and planning new projects. Do you knit and crochet through the summer months? While we do stay away from big ,heavy projects during the warm months we never stop knitting, so I thought I would share a few of our latest creations.

Yarns on First will be closed June 29th through July 9th, for a highly anticipated family vacation. We will reopen on July 10th with our regular business hours.

We have some exciting events for you on the horizon, so stay tuned! Our anniversary sale will begin right as we reopen on July 10th, and will run through July 13th.
Churchmouse Shoulder Cozy

This is, hands down, one of our favorite patterns. We love it's simplicity and versatility. You can wear it around your neck like a cowl, or down over your shoulders more like a poncho. It can be knit in almost any yarn weight, depending on the look you want. Marcie just finished up a lovely Shoulder Cozy, in the prettiest shell pink color. She used Berroco's Seduce and Rowan Kidsilk Haze, perfect for cool summer evenings.
Shibui Mix No. 3

Another shop favorite! This elegant shawl is knit out of Shibui's Staccato, a sock weight, and their Silk Cloud, a mohair silk fingering weight yarn. Both yarns contain silk, which gives this shawl a lovely drape. The Mix 3 is delicate, airy, and striking. Marcie knit this shawl out of the poppy colorway, which is a gorgeous and modern orangey-red.
Purl Soho Cap Sleeve Lattice Top

I love this top! Marcie knit it out of Classic Elite's Firefly, a rustic yet elegant yarn, made from 25% Linen and 75% viscose, or rayon. It has a slight sheen, drapes beautifully, and is even more attractive in person. I love the lattice work at the top of the pullover, which gives it a decidedly modern look. It is light and breezy- perfect for the Napa summer!
Pebble Vest

We love knitting for little ones during the summer months, as the items are always small and portable! This is a fabulous (and free!) pattern- perfect for keeping babies warm, without having to wrestle them into a sweater. It unbuttons completely on one side, making it an sinch to slip on. This one was knit out of just one skein of Berroco's Ultra Alpaca Light and is perfect for a newborn. Marcie is busy with a larger version, out of Malabrigo Rios.
Gramps Cardigan

Another adorable new knit is the Gramps Cardi. Knit out of luscious MadelineTosh Vintage, this sweater would make a thrilling gift for any new mom.Despite it's masculine name, we have been selling it for both boys and girls. We've got lots ot Madtosh Vintage in stock, in an array of beautiful colorways.
