Spring, 2013
As the weather continues to warm, our thoughts are turning towards lighter weight yarns (think linen, silk, and cotton) that are perfect for all your warm weather projects. We thought we'd share a few of our favorites with you!
We are also thinking about Mother's Day, now less than a month away. Any of these projects would make a great gift for the mothers in your lives!

Seduce

Seduce, by Berroco, is such an interesting yarn!  It's created from a mix of silk, linen, rayon and nylon and makes a light and easy, breathable fabric with little effort. It's practically weightless and cool to the touch.
We love the shimmery,  sinuous quality of this yarn.  Currently we are knitting a Flow tank out of Seduce, in the Vapor colorway, with plans for a Clapotis up next.

Shibui Linen

Linen is of course the quintessential warm weather fiber, and we are loving both Shibui and Louet's linen yarn.

Shibui's version is a clean, crisp linen fiber spun into a unique chain ply structure. Marcie just finished the Augustine shawl out of 2 skeins of Shibui Linen, and it is gorgeous! Come by to check it out!

We also love L. 1, a free pattern from Shibui. This lightweight scarf shows off the clean lines and lovely colors of the yarn perfectly.

 Louet Euroflax
Louet's linen is made out of flax fiber which is wet spun, yielding a yarn a of exceptional quality and softness.

We are thinking about knitting a market bag soon, like this one perhaps. Ilene Bag, a free pattern by Hannah Ingalls. Just the thing for the Farmer's Market!

Another Louet favorite is the Lacey Stole, perfect for spring evenings in Napa!

Rowan's Kidsilk Haze
This classic Rowan yarn is perfect for warm weather knitting or crocheting. We carry over 20 colorways of this delicate silk and mohair blend. While this yarn is often held alongside another in projects, it works up into such light and airy garments on it's own- just the thing for your spring accessory.

The Mohair Bias Loop, a classic pattern from Churchmouse is so lovely knit out of just two skeins of this yarn.

For an extra special touch, try knitting the Bias Loop out of Rowan Glamour! The sequins add just the right amount of glam to turn this useful accessory into something divine!

Also from Churchmouse is the Crocheted Moebius Cowl. Our instructor Sandy crocheted a beautiful one for the shop, in the ethereal colorway Heavenly.
Mother's Day bottle rock

Napa Valley will be rockin' Bottle Rock this Mother's Day weekend. Do you know the best (and easiest) way to rock your  mom on this Mother's Day? Why, with a gift certificate to her favorite yarn store of course! We are also more than happy to help put together a project for that special mother in you life. So, come on by (or send your significant other/children) and we will help them pick out the perfect gift!
