Exhibition of new work by visual arts students

The Program in Visual Arts is presenting an exhibition of recent work by juniors in the program through Friday, May 9 in the James S. Hall '34 Memorial Gallery at Butler College. Gallery hours are weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

The Program in Visual Arts is presenting an exhibition of recent work by students in the spring course, "Ceramic Sculpture," taught by Adam Welch. The work is on view through May 9 with an opening reception planned for Friday, May 9 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at 701 Carnegie Center in Princeton. Gallery hours are weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

Workshop performance of a new play by senior Tadesh Inagaki 
This weekend only! Friday, May 9 at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday, May 10-11 at 4:30 & 8:00 p.m.
 
The Program in Theater will present a workshop reading of a new, one-person, documentary play written and performed by senior certificate student Tadesh Inagaki and directed by R.N. Sandberg. Based on interviews Inagaki conducted with men in the process of re-entering society after incarceration, Inside/Out is a portrait of individuals struggling to escape the prison world and rediscover life "on the outside." Performances will be held Friday, May 9 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 10 at 4:30 and 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, May 11 at 4:30 and 8:00 p.m. in the Marie and Edward Matthews '53 Acting Studio at 185 Nassau Street. Student-designed collection of essays on "Myself, I Think We Should Keep Collecting Titles" 
Tuesday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m.
 
On May 13, Labyrinth Books will host a launch party celebrating the publication of the collection of essays on "Myself I Think We Should Keep Collecting Titles," an exhibition of work by Princeton's Dean of the Faculty David Dobkin presented last fall by the Program in Visual Arts. Students from David Reinfurt's fall 2013 advanced graphic design course designed the four books making up the collection of scholarly essays by Princeton faculty, staff, and former students. The books will be available to purchase at Labyrinth Books. The event will begin on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Learn more

Featuring new student films and videos 
Thursday, May 15 at 4:00 p.m.
 
Student work from four spring semester film/video courses offered by the Program in Visual Arts at the Lewis Center will be featured in a screening on May 15. Students in Emily Abt's "Narrative Filmmaking" course, Keith Sanborn's course on "Introductory Video and Film Production," and Su Friedrich's courses in "Documentary Filmmaking" and "Advanced Video and Film Production" will show their short films and videos beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the James M. Stewart '32 Theater at 185 Nassau Street. The event is free and open to the public.

Exhibition featuring artwork by graduating seniors 
Friday, May 16 - Tuesday, June 3
 
The Program in Visual Arts will present the Senior All-Star Art Show, an exhibition of selected work in a wide range of media by Class of 2014 graduating seniors. The exhibition will be on view in the Lucas Gallery at 185 Nassau Street from Friday, May 16 through Tuesday, June 3. Gallery hours are weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the exhibition is free and open to the public.

Showing of new multimedia performance projects by students
Friday, May 16 at 8:00 p.m.
 
Students from the spring visual arts course, "Live Film: Video Design for Performance," will present their multimedia performance projects on Friday, May 16. Led by Eamonn Farrell, the course allows students to investigate the motivations and techniques for using live video in performance. Farrell is a video designer and the director/media designer of Anonymous Ensemble, a Brooklyn-based artistic company whose work bridges the divide between stage and screen. The event will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the Berlind Rehearsal Room at McCarter Theatre Center and is free and open to the public.

Exhibition of works selected from the annual competition 
On view through April 2015
 
Exploring the interplay between science and art, the annual Art of Science exhibition consists of images and videos with aesthetic merit that were produced during the course of scientific inquiry. The works will be on view for a full year until April 2015 in the Friend Center atrium on the University campus. The Lewis Center is one of several cosponsors of this project led by the School of Engineering and Applied Science. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Learn more

Arts alumni group to host event at Reunions Weekend    
Friday, May 30 at 3:30 p.m.


Princeton Arts Alumni, a newly established group focused on connecting and supporting Princeton students and alumni in their creative endeavors and careers, will host a reception at Reunions Weekend on Friday, May 30. The reception will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Lucas Gallery at 185 Nassau Street. All Princeton graduates who work in, have interest in, or support and celebrate the creative and performing arts are welcome. Please RSVP here.


The Lewis Center for the Arts encompasses Princeton University's academic programs in creative writing, dance, theater, and visual arts, as well as the interdisciplinary Princeton Atelier.
