Multi-disciplinary Participants for 1 Day Art Festival in Patchogue May 15
Arts on Terry, A Collaborative Free Event Features Visual Art Exhibitions, Performances, Live Music, Artist Demonstrations, Artists in Action and More!
PATCHOGUE, NEW YORK, MAY 9, 2016 - The Patchogue Arts Council (PAC) is excited to announce its multi-disciplinary participants for Arts on Terry, an innovative one day collaborative event with Artspace Patchogue. This free event will consist of exhibitions by local artists groups, artisan demonstrations, street artists in action, musical performances, and spoken word. Arts on Terry will be located in the immediate vicinity of Artspace Patchogue and the Patchogue Arts Gallery on Terry Street and Taylor Lane, Patchogue, NY, on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Artist groups, galleries, and museums from throughout Suffolk County will participate. Unlike most art festivals, Arts on Terry has no required participation fee. Each participating group will curate its own space that will be located in one of the nine 10'x20' tents lining Terry Street and Taylor Lane.

Patchogue Arts Council Program Director John Cino states, "The Patchogue Art Council's collaborative efforts such as Arts on Terry, Pop Mart and Global/Local have a positive impact both locally and regionally. They strengthen our local arts community through a synergy which creates a whole larger than its parts while expanding its horizon's by forging connections across Suffolk County and beyond."

Arts on Terry Co-Curator and Artspace Patchogue resident artist Dave Rogers states, "The opportunity for Artspace Patchogue Lofts and the Patchogue Arts Council to be located not only on the same street, but also in the same building, provides a unique opportunity for the arts in Patchogue to be able to collaborate together in ways that you cannot find in other locations on Long Island. Creating events like Arts on Terry are an important part of art on Long Island... allowing art lovers from around Long Island to be able to experience art in all of its forms in one location. The goal of such events is not only to display art, but to also give artists and art organizations the chance to network and find new talent for their venues or new places to exhibit with."

Participating Visual Arts Groups include: Projecting Arts, LIM Arts - A Collaborative Arts Group, fotofoto Gallery, LIU Post, Patchogue Sketch Club, PAC Photographers Group, Women Sharing Art, Inc., South Bay Art Association, The Drawing Studio, The Phoenix Art & Studio Gallery, and Long Island Museum.

Carole J. Amodeo, Arts on Terry visual arts group participant states, "As a member of the Women Sharing Art for the past five years, I am honored, thankful, and very excited to be part of Arts on Terry."

Sculpture Exhibit in the Patchogue Garden Club Community Garden
The adjacent Patchogue Garden Club Community Garden will be home to a sculpture exhibit of six sculptures curated by the PAC Visual Arts Committee that will remain on view through the end of June.

Exhibitions at Both Galleries Located in the Artspace Building
Artspace National Artists Run Exhibit, curated by Dave Rogers, features the work of artists who live and work in Artspace facilities around the nation. Objects Assembled, curated by Lisa DiStefano, is an exhibit of small ceramic sculptures. Both will be on display at the Artspace Patchogue Gallery. In addition, attendees will be able to tour the Artspace Patchogue building. The Patchogue Arts Gallery will present its annual juried member exhibit, PatchWorks 2016, this year curated by Executive Director Neil Watson of the Long Island Museum.

Artisan Demonstrations Include Glassblowing by Long Island Glass, iron arts by Spirit Iron Works, woodworking by Mike Braceland Smith, and ceramics by Justin Mullady.

Artists in Action
Street artists will be painting on large panels, artists from Artspace will be outside painting along with the Patchogue Sketch Club, and chalk sidewalk artists will be creating in the Roe Walkway. Some of the participating live artists are: Pam Varacek, Anu Annum, Nadine Leger, Ed Robinson, C.F. Richards, George Schulman, Theresa Skelaney, Denise Palmieri, Johnny "Mike" Hollingworth, Dana Flaherty, Patti Kelly, and Linda Abadjian.

Music, Poetry, & Performance Throughout the Day
Toast Coffeehouse will feature a sound stage provided by Mick Hargreaves - Lantern Sound Recording Rig. Mick Hargreaves will MC the stage with performances by: Jason Kaplan/Say Cheese (Music), Russ Green (Poetry), Invade the Sun (Music), Kelly Powell (Poetry), Bryan Gallo (Music), Billy Lamont (Poetry), Don & Rachel Bracken (Music), Barbara Branca (Poetry), Mick Hargreaves (Music), and Pete Mc2 (Poetry).

Artspace Patchogue Lobby will feature sound stage recording provided by Matthew Einsidler. Eddie Donoghue will MC the stage with performances by: Astronauto/Johnson Velsorius (Music), Eddie Donoghue & Steven T. Licardi, Nathaniel Watts (Poetry), Valery Levine (Music), "Write What You See" writing workshop hosted by Amber Butler, Claire Raby (Music), Bri Ana Marie Smulezeski, & Chatham Grey (Poetry), and Thomas Schinkel (Music).

Performance Artists
Sculptor John Cino and Percussionist Brady Wilkins present "Converging Rhythms," a sound and space experience; Dave Rogers presents "Water Activated Art;" Dorothy Madubuko and Masusya Madubuko present Partita Number 2, Violin and Ballet Dancing; and Consuelo Marie Barbetta will be performing a interpretive dance piece titled "Unknown."

Arts on Terry is a free to the public, one day multi-disciplinary art event that will take place on Saturday, May 15, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Located on Terry Street and Taylor Lane in Patchogue Village, the event features art exhibitions, art demonstrations, live music, performances, spoken word, and more. This event is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and is administered by the Huntington Arts Council, Inc. Additional support has been provided by LI Pulse Magazine and the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.
