Les Liaisons Danereuses
Les Liaisons Danereuses
Broadcast by National Theatre Live from the Donmar Warehouse
Thursday, March 17 at 6:30 PM

In 1782, Choderlos de Laclos' novel of sex, intrigue, and betrayal in pre-revolutionary France scandalized the world. Two hundred years later, this irresistible adaptation by Christopher Hampton swept the board, winning the Olivier and Evening Standard Awards for Best Play. Former lovers, the Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont now compete in games of seduction and revenge. Merteuil incites Valmont to corrupt the innocent Cecile de Volanges before her wedding night, but Valmont has targeted the peerlessly virtuous and beautiful Madame de Tourvel. While these merciless aristocrats toy with others' hearts and reputations, their own may prove more fragile than they supposed.

*Optional at an additional charge during intermission: Saturday Brunch catered from Goldberg's Famous Bagels. Top it off with a Mimosa, fine wine, or craft beer. Thursday Evening Cheese Platters are catered from The Cheese Patch. Pair with a fine wine or craft beer from Plaza's Blue Velvet Lounge.

Poison Play

Poison Play
Curated by Beth Giacummo
April 10 - June 5
Artist Reception April 24 from 1:00-4:00 PM

What happens when the modern conveniences we take for granted have toxic side effects? It's easy to enjoy the technological innovations and present-day comforts of life in what seems to be in harmony with our surroundings. However, as these luxuries of consumerism overtake the once abundant flora and fauna of our environment, they simultaneously pave a path to a dystopian future and we are forced to confront our own toxic trails. Poison Play looks to themes of tainted ecosystems and inspires works born from destruction. The artists featured in this exhibit have investigated, explored and translated our carbon footprint and abuse of natural resources into visual depictions of poisonous play.

Open call for Urban Ruins, a photography exhibition presented by Udruga Kreativni Krk (Creative Krk Association). Photographers and visual artists are invited to submit for a juried group exhibition that will be held at Decumanus Gallery from May 6-19 in Krk, Croatia. The exhibition is part of the "Labor Day Incubator" festival, and submissions are due March 25. In recent years, a new trend in photography has emerged focused on so-called urban ruins. This kind of photography finds aesthetics in abandonment and deterioration of buildings, architectural complexes and parts of the city and encourages debates about the importance of art in the revitalization and restoration projects in the (post) industrial zones. This exhibition will explore the photographic subject matter of urban ruins. Visit http://www.kreativnikrk.com/novosti/2016/2/9/photo-contest-urban-ruins or email art.kreativni.krk@gmail.com for more information.
