Two PAC exhibition open calls!

PatchWorks 2015: The Annual Juried Members Exhibition
Juror: Cherie Via Rexer; owner/director of RIPE Art Gallery, Huntington, NY.

Reception: June 28, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Submission Drop Off: June 19 - June 21

This annual show gives current members of the Patchogue Arts Council the opportunity to exhibit their artwork at the Patchogue Arts Gallery located at 20 Terry St., Patchogue. There is no submission fee, and artists are invited to submit up to two works of art in any medium. The exhibition will highlight the many talents of the Patchogue Arts community and will exhibit a mixture of painting, sculpture, photography, and more. 2015 marks the fourth year PAC has held an exhibition exclusively for its members at the Patchogue Arts Gallery. Now is the perfect time to renew or join!

Call for Outdoor Sculptures for PAC MAC Festival 
October 2 - 11, 2015  
Submission Deadline: June 30, 2015
The Patchogue Arts Council is pleased to announce it is accepting submissions from sculptors to exhibit an outdoor sculpture in Patchogue Village during the PAC MAC Festival, a downtown centric, multi-day, multi-venue festival encompassing music, visual arts, and cinema.

Multiple sculptures will be installed in the Patchogue Garden Club Garden and Roe Walkway. Artists are encouraged to create an outdoor sculpture and will receive a stipend of up to $750.00 for a newly created work if selected. Artists submitting an existing work will receive a stipend of up to $300.00 if selected. The Visual Arts Committee of the Patchogue Arts Council will review all submissions. All artwork will be on view outside, in public spaces, and must abide by safety protocol and procedures.

Email submissions are due ON June 30, 2015 and any submissions received AFTER June 30, 2015 or that do not follow ALL of the PROSPECTUS available by clicking here will not be considered.

Gilbert & Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance - English National Opera

Sentimental pirates, blundering policemen, absurd adventures, and improbable paradoxes - Gilbert & Sullivan's dazzling Pirates of Penzance comes to ENO in a highly anticipated new production from renowned film maker and director Mike Leigh.  This much-loved comic opera is a showcase of brilliant humor and razor-sharp wit and features a sparkling score chock-full of memorable melodies and catchy tunes.

For an additional cost, the Saturday morning screenings feature brunch by Goldberg's Famous Bagels and a Mimosa, wine, or beer from The Plaza's Blue Velvet Lounge; the Thursday evening screenings feature a cheese platter from The Cheese Patch to pair with select wines or beers from The Plaza's Blue Velvet Lounge.

Bring original pieces to Studio 5404, and the Artist Roundtable will bring out the best in your work, helping you to reach a new and better understanding to push for a new and stronger direction. Brookhave Arts and Humanities Council (BAHC)
After 5 years of exhibits, classes, workshops, music and special events in Bellport, the Brookhaven Arts and Humanities Council (BAHC) will be leaving the Phoenix Gallery at the end of June. BAHC wishes to thank all supporters, members, artists and patrons, who have exhibited at or visited the Phoenix Gallery over the past 5 years. Although they will no longer be operating the gallery, they plan to remain a part of the growing artistic community in Bellport and the surrounding area and look forward to your continued support and participation. Watch for emails and advertisements of their upcoming events on their website. Please consider supporting BAHC by participating in "Buildings & Structures," a special final exhibition at the Phoenix Gallery. "Buildings & Structures" - a thing constructed of many parts, biological, chemical, or even geological; i.e.: "The structure consisted of a series of arches" or "She wore her hair in an amazing construction of whirls & ribbons." Drop off will take place on Sunday, May 31 from noon to 4:00 PM. There will be a reception on Sunday, June 7 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and pick up will be on Sunday, June 28 from noon to 4:00 PM. They will not have access to the gallery after June 28th, so all works must be picked up that day.
