Portrait Drawings by Kathryn Ko
|
On exhibit at the PAC Members Gallery in Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Co41 E. Main St., Patchogue Thru December 22
Kathryn Ko, a skilled neurosurgeon, has a unique approach to drawing and painting and a preoccupation with the human figure. Human anatomy, for Ko, is a language best translated by surgeons. Her portrait drawings allow the artist to finish the medical narrative she begins in the clinic, extracting the spirit of the subject in her work. For the artist, the white space between the scalpel and paintbrush has merged into one continued field of vision and train of thought.
