PAC MAC Festival 2014 planning and collaboration is off the ground, soaring high with confirmed sponsors. A special thank you to the Suffolk County Office of Cultural Affairs for awarding the Patchogue Arts Council a $25K Destination Downtown grant and to the always-supportive BID ( Patchogue Business Improvement District) for a $2500 grant. These grants will help PAC to continue doing what it does best - Encouraging, Promoting and Supporting the Arts - (Since 2008). Since 2008, downtown Patchogue Village has become a breeding ground for an evolving arts and music scene. In both 2009 and 2011 PAC staged the Patchogue Arts Biennial, the largest contemporary art event of its kind on Long Island! Arts organizations with decades worth of experience, all over Long Island, now look to the Patchogue Arts Council for innovative new approaches to presenting the arts. All of this was made possible through generous sponsorships, dedicated professionals, and community members who volunteered countless hours of their time. The Patchogue Arts Council's primary goal with PAC MAC is to unite the numerous and varied artistic movements in a festival that will expand exposure to a broader audience within Suffolk County. We will be working with a large network of arts and cultural organizations throughout Suffolk County. PAC will evaluate submissions for artistic excellence and ensure the highest caliber of work is on display. These exhibits, as well as other activities, will be held in multiple public spaces, galleries, and, building on the past success of the PAC Walking Arts Tours, in the very few(!) remaining vacant retail locations (see enclosed event line-up). Screenings of alternative cinema will be selected and shown. The musical component will build on the success of the 2013 South by South Shore Festival (SBSS) with multiple venues showcasing live music from a variety of genres. Only locations with the highest quality performers will be included in the festival line-up. There will also be a presentation of an original family musical, spoken word sessions, and readings from local writing groups.
Collaboraters include - Business Improvement District of the Village of Patchogue, Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts, Plaza Cinema and Media Arts, Herstory, The New Musicals Project, 89 North, Artspace Patchogue Lofts, Gallery 40SO,Tri-Valley Brass Band, Various Patchogue restaurants and many more to be announced!
