Patchogue Arts Council Photography Club
 
Meetings are held every second Wednesday of the month at the Brickhouse Brewery and Restaurant in Shand's Loft from 7:30-9:30 PM and are open to both beginners and experts.

The  assignment/contest for this month is
Flora & Fauna. Photographers can upload their photos to our blog and members can vote on their favorites - all done anonymously.

The Patchogue Arts Council is excited to sponsor the
Fleiss - Giacummo - McAvoy 2013 Contemporary Arts Symposium (FGM-NY) taking place across the south shore of Long Island from September 27 - October 7.  The program will provide a residency on Long Island for 12+ international artists.  FGM-NY seeks to encourage and improve the cultural exchange between artists and collaborating communities.

pleased to invite you to attend FGM-NY's Patchogue events on Saturday, October 5.  Events include an artists' talk located at Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center, 20 Terry St., from 1:00-1:45 PM, followed by an artists' reception for the pop-up exhibition "Small Works from FGM-NY" at Shand's Loft Gallery located upstairs at the Brickhouse Brewery, 67 W. Main St., from 2:00-4:00 PM, and finally from 4:00-6:00 PM an artists' reception for the exhibit "Made in Poland" featuring FGM-NY artists in residence from Poland at The Gallery at 40 South, 40 South Ocean Ave.

Titus Kana is a fine art photographer who has shown his work in exhibitions across Long Island and in New York City. He was elected to the board of the Patchogue Arts Council in 2013 and is a founding member of the PAC Photography Club. Titus has been interested in photography all of his life. He first picked up the camera while still in high school taking up landscapes and seascapes as his subject matter. In 1981 he began his professional career in New York City as a fashion and beauty photographer. Over the years he developed a mastery of digital imaging and has a wide range of computer programs under his belt. His painterly black and white photographs of Fire Island are achieved through utilizing a technique that combines infrared photography with colorization that creates a dynamic range of tones.

The Patchogue Arts Gallery's current exhibit,
Artists of the Lobby,
celebrates five years of the Patchogue Arts Council by featuring artists who have been previously exhibited in the Lobby Arts Gallery located inside the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.  The exhibit will be up thru October 19th.

Local Events & Opportunities

The Brentwood Cultural Street Festival will be held on September 22 from noon until 6:00 pm and begins on Suffolk Avenue at the Brentwood Rd./Washington Ave. intersection and extends westward three blocks to Monroe Ave. The festival will have children activities, art exhibits, and a steady stream of world-class culturally diverse bands and dance troupes including: El Teatro Rodante Hispanico - local Latin dance group; Mariachi Cuscatlan - mariachi band from El Salvador; Conjunto Sabori - local traditional salsa band; The Liverpool Shuffle - Beatles tribute band; Grammy nominee Papo Vazquez and his Pirates Troubadours; Kaïssa - "The sparkling Cameroonian singer"; and Aurora & Zon Del Barrio - New York Latin band. WPPB 88.3 FM Peconic Public Broadcasting Harvest Costume Ball & Art Auctionfestive evening of art, music, dancing, wine, and local fare to benefit 88.3 FM WPPB Peconic Public Broadcasting will be held on Saturday, October 5 from 7:00 - 11:00 PM at The South Street Gallery, 18 South Street, Greenport, New York. Patchogue Sketch Club
The Patchogue Sketch Club was created for the purpose of getting people together to discover the value of sketching. Sketching itself is its own art form; sketching helps artists "see" better and enhances drawing skills. Sketching is also a fun way of recording the world around us much more intimately than a camera.
