Celebrating Unheard Voices Through
Justice Journeys and Mothers' Tales

On Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00 PM The Patchogue Arts Council and Herstory Writers' Workshop will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the organizations' collaborative writing workshops: Memoirs of Motherhood and Bridges To Justice with a reading at The Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center, 20 Terry St., Patchogue.
Unheard Voices Illustration

During the celebration, nine writers of various ages and walks of life will share excerpts from their memoirs. One story begins in a kitchen when a long-enduring silence is about to be broken. Another begins in a high-security prison when a justice worker is reminded of her own incarceration. Still another finds an expectant mother mourning the end of one life while anticipating the beginning of another.

All are welcome to come and enjoy the dramatic moments each writer has created and to celebrate each one's unique voice at this free event. For more information email us at [email protected]

This program was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center, Knapp-Swezey Foundation, Briarcliffe College and the New York State Council on the Arts.

The Patchogue Arts Gallery needs volunteers! Email [email protected] or stop by for more information.

PAC Members Gallery at Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company

Kristen Hadjoglou is a fine artist from Eastport, NY, and has had her work on display in galleries across Long Island. Her subjects focus on the fleeting moments of time where she finds hints of who she was in that moment and that moment's impact on her life. By working in an organic style, she finds a way of keeping the soul of the painting intact, allowing an emphasis on the pertinent information to remain in the forefront.   On exhibit through September 19.

Patchogue Sketch Club
The Patchogue Sketch Club was created for the purpose of getting people together to discover the value of sketching. Sketching itself is its own art form; sketching helps artists "see" better and enhances drawing skills. Sketching is also a fun way of recording the world around us much more intimately than a camera.

For more information about upcoming sketch outings and gatherings visit their blog at
