The Patchogue Arts Council's first ever South By South Shore South By South Shore Music and Arts Festival was a huge success.  Thank you to everyone that came out to participate in six days of music, film, art, poetry, theatre, beer, and fun!  If you missed any part of the event, check out the photos on the PAC Facebook page Like us on Facebook, or the South By South Shore Facebook page at https://facebook.com/southbysouthshore. During South By South Shore, a broad variety of music, film, and poetry was presented at:
Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, 89 North Music Venue, Roast Coffee and Tea Trading Company, The Brickhouse Brewery, The Tap Room, Bobbique, Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center, and PeraBell Food Bar.

Herstory Writers Workshop "Voices Out of Incarceration"

As part of our ongoing Unheard Voices reading circle, the Patchogue Arts Council and Herstory Writers Workshop will be hosting "Voices Out of Incarceration" on Wednesday, April 17, from 5:30-7:30 PM at St. Joseph's College.  The forum will feature readings of true stories written by incarcerated teens and a panel discussion exploring the impact of prosecuting and sentencing teens as adults.  Panel participants also include representatives from the Juvenile Justice Project of the Correctional Association of New York.  The meeting will take place in the McGann Conference Room on the third floor.  For more information, contact literaryarts@patchoguearts.org.

Call for Artists Open to Patchogue Arts Council Members
Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Co is proud to host the Patchogue Arts Council Member Gallery.  Members in good standing are invited to submit images of work for solo exhibitions that will last approximately 7 weeks.  Roast will host an artist reception. All work must be ready for hanging.  This opportunity will be juried by staff of Roast and the Patchogue Arts Council.  Send submissions including 5-10 jpegs of recent work, size, and medium to tiffany@roastcoffeeandtea.com by May 3 with "PAC Member Gallery Wall" in the subject line.  Submissions will be reviewed between May 3 and May 10.  Exhibition dates to be announced.

Opportunity for Artists

BAHC: Phoenix Gallery located at 139 South Country Road, Bellport.
Open to members and non-members:  "The 2 Week Show", drop off: May 5, from noon to 4:00 PM; there is no reception for this show, and the fee is 3 submissions for $25.  Work pick up is May 19 from noon to 4:00 PM.  Visit brookhavenarts.org/phoenix for more information.

East End Arts Council, Riverhead, NY - Call for street painting artists and fine artisan/craft vendors for East End Arts' 17th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival, May 26 from noon to 5:00 PM.  Artists  are invited to exhibit and sell their work in the fine arts & crafts market, as well as to participate in the street painting activities.
Fine Artisan & Crafts Vendors are invited to submit photos of their original work for consideration for the fine art and craft sale held outdoors. Artists and artisans may reserve a 10' x 10' space for a $50 for EEA members, or $150 for non-members. Street Painting Artists that are over the age of 14 are encouraged to register in advance. Pre-registered street painters will be matched with a sponsored square on a first-come-first-serve basis. Chalk and blending materials are provided. It is recommended that street painters bring kneepads and a hat. Artwork must be suitable for public viewing. No words or symbols intended as advertising may appear within the image, however artists may sign their names. Patchogue Sketch Club
The Patchogue Sketch Club was created for the purpose of getting people together to discover the value of sketching. Sketching itself is its own art form; sketching helps artists "see" better and enhances drawing skills. Sketching is also a fun way of recording the world around us much more intimately than a camera.
