ABOUT HERSTORY WRITERS WORKSHOP - Since its founding in 1996, Herstory Writers Workshop has been dedicated to giving voice to those whose stories are silenced and unsung through the development of a network of workshops connecting its participants across the cultural, racial, economic and educational barriers that so often keep us apart. Whether the organization is working with women and adolescent girls in Long Island's three jails, with male and female students in one of the ten universities and colleges, where its "dare to care" curriculum is giving birth to new programs, or with the larger community, its all-Spanish, bilingual and English-language workshops are known for bringing out the voices of those who might never have seen themselves as writers, creating deep lasting friendships while using the literature produced to move the needle on important human rights issues.
