Dear Hands on Tokyo Volunteers and Sponsors,
As we begin 2013, I would like to extend my most heartfelt thanks for your kind support last year; we could not make such a meaningful impact in both Tokyo and Tohoku were it not for our many sponsors and volunteers who help Hands on Tokyo. The difference we make in the community is only possible because of our generous donors and volunteers. Thank you.
In Tokyo last year, 3,112 volunteers participated in 314 projects. Through these projects, we were able to reach over 5,000 people in need. We also were able to add a new senior home to our ongoing projects in Tokyo and hope to further expand the number of projects in 2013.
Also, I would like to acknowledge the contribution of our many dedicated Volunteer Leaders who run these projects as they are a critical part of HOT's success. If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Leader, please reach out to us at info@handsontokyo.org.
We also continued our work in Tohoku, where 590 volunteers participated in a variety of projects, including supporting the building of a community center in Ogatsu, Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, which is scheduled to complete in early 2013. Thanks to generous funding from the Major League Baseball Players Association, the US Japan Council, Intercontinental Trading Corp. and many individual donors who have contributed, we will be able to give the residents of Ogatsu a place to gather as they continue to rebuild their town.
Finally, on Friday, March 15 we will host our annual charity auction event, "A Taste for Volunteering 2013" at the Tokyo American Club. We hope many of our supporters and volunteers will join us for a fun evening of great food, superb wine and unique auction items. Please stay tuned for more information as the date approaches.
We will continue both our ongoing Tokyo-based projects and our Tohoku work in 2013 and we hope that you will to be part of those activities.
We hope to see you again soon and wish you all the best for 2013. Corinne Johnson, Chairman of the Board, Hands On Tokyo
