Right to Read Week begins May 5. We are dedicating this week's eBlast to all of the wonderful events taking place throughout the week. This year's theme is Reading �Fiesta!. We hope our students and families enjoy this year's festivities. For questions, e-mail Mrs. Ward at [email protected].

1. Monday, May 5 - Rock & Read-a-Thon,
Find the Sombrero & Author Visit 
A different student will be reading every 10 minutes in a rocking chair in the office the entire time school is in session. We will also welcome author and illustrator, Lindsay Ward, to visit with the 1st and 2nd-graders. Our "Find the Sombrero" contest begins! Students have an opportunity to win a gift certificate from Qdoba each day this week!

2. Tuesday, May 6 - Guest Readers

We continue our Rock & Read-a-Thon and Find the Sombrero contest. We also have Connie Obrycki our Director of Pupil Services and our Mayor Eileen Patton lined up as guest readers.   


3.  Wednesday, May 7 - Bike to School Day & Sadecky's Puppets 

Fairview Park's Safe Routes to School committee will be sponsoring a Bike to School Day on May 7. Students are encouraged to safely ride their bike to and from school. 

City of Fairview Park Development Administrator, Matthew Hrubey, will be our Guest Reader in the Kiva. Sadecky's Puppets will also be here in the afternoon and the entire school will get to see one of the two shows: "Beans!" or "A Small Act of Kindness." Our Rock & Read-a-Thon and Find the Sombrero contest also continue. 

4. Thursday, May 8 - !Fiesta! Family Reading Night
We've got a great line-up of Guest Readers during the day: our new School Treasurer, Amy Hendricks; our very own Mr. Arnold; former Board Member, Dennis Rehor; FHS Principal, Brady Sheets; and our School Board President, Joe Shucofsky. 
 
In the evening, we are hosting our !Fiesta! Family Reading Night in the Cafetorium from 6:30 - 8 p.m.! We will also continue our Rock & Read-a-Thon and Find the Sombrero contest. 
5. Friday, May 9 - Wrap up
Our fantastic line-up of Guest Readers include: our School Board Vice President, Joslyn Dalton; School Superintendent, Brion Deitsch; our very own Principals, Mrs. Brady & Ms. Moran; our very own Ms. McKeon; and our new City Fire Chief, Tony Raffin! Our Rock & Read-a-Thon and Find the Sombrero contest end today.
