Los Angeles City Council
To Adjourn In Pat Derby's Honor
April 17, 2013

On Wednesday, April 17, the Los Angeles City Council will adjourn its meeting in memory and in honor of PAWS Co-founder Pat Derby. This accolade is reserved for very special individuals, often those who have made a positive difference in the world.

Pat had many connections to Los Angeles, but it was in 2007 that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced that the elephant Ruby would be transferred from the Los Angeles Zoo to ARK 2000, where she would join Mara, 71 and Lulu. Maggie would later join the group.

PAWS supporters are invited to attend this special acknowledgement of Pat's life and work. The adjournment comes at the very end of the meeting and typically lasts about five minutes. Because of the nature of the Council meetings, we cannot give you an exact time for the adjournment. We suggest that you arrive by 11:30 a.m.
