PAWS WELCOMES CATHERINE DOYLE

We are pleased to announce that Catherine Doyle has joined our staff as Director of Science, Research and Advocacy.

Catherine is the former Elephant Campaign Director for In Defense of Animals (IDA) where she was a leading voice for elephants in zoos and circuses. She has been an animal welfare professional for more than 13 years, with the last nine years devoted entirely to elephants. Her elephant advocacy work began with efforts to rescue Ruby at the Los Angeles Zoo, resulting in Ruby's transfer to PAWS' ARK 2000 wildlife sanctuary in 2007.

During the last decade, Catherine's research on elephant health, welfare and management has garnered her a reputation as an expert on conditions for captive elephants, particularly those held in zoos. She has presented expert testimony at numerous government hearings and appeared as IDA's media spokesperson on television, radio and in print worldwide.

Catherine is a recipient of the City of Angels Animal Humanitarian Award and a member of the selection committee for the prestigious Genesis Awards. She is currently a master of science candidate in Anthrozoology at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY.

Welcome Catherine!
