Homecoming and Family Weekend is just around the corner - Oct. 7-9. We hope you will join us for a weekend of exciting activities and events.
Visit the Family Weekend and Homecoming websites for complete details. Listed below are a few frequently asked questions that may be helpful in planning your special weekend.
When should I plan to arrive? Your arrival in Kalamazoo depends on your interests. Events taking place on Friday evening include theatrical productions by the WMU Theatre department and the Distinguished Alumni reception. You may also want to be here early Saturday morning for the annual Campus Classic run/walk.
What events are taking place on Saturday before the pre-game tailgate starts? We are excited to offer "Exploring WMU" interest sessions on Saturday for students, families and alumni. These interactive (and fun!) sessions will include global engagement, career planning, and financial know-how. Of special interest to alumni are the guided tours of new campus developments over the past few years. You will have time to attend two sessions with a lunch break in between.
Does my WMU student need a ticket to the pre-game tailgate? Yes. All tailgate attendees need to purchase a ticket. This is a "can't miss" event with an all-you-can-eat BBQ, live entertainment and fun activities for the whole family. You can also register for the Guinness World Record attempt for the most marriage vow renewals in one place, at one time.
Can I sit with my WMU student at the football game? Yes. WMU students get into the game for free by showing their Bronco ID cards. Family and friends can purchase football tickets at a discounted rate of $15 and sit with your WMU student in the student section (which spans one entire side of the stadium).
Tell me about the Sunday Brunch. Our annual Family Weekend Sunday Brunch will be in the new Valley Dining Center. Live entertainment will be provided by students from the School of Music. Advance ticket purchase is available through the Family Weekend website and WMU students with a valid meal plan or dining dollars can swipe their Bronco ID cards. Delicious food in a beautiful setting - what better way to celebrate time with your student?
Where can I buy that shirt that supports the Invisible Need Project? The 2016 "Good as Gold" T-shirt is available online or on campus in the Residence Life office (located in Faunce Student Services) during regular business hours. We will also be selling shirts at various events throughout the academic year, including the pre-game tailgate. The shirts are only $10 and all proceeds support the Invisible Need Project Student Emergency Relief Fund.
