Tax Season Information

Tax information is available at the bottom of your child's billing statement.

On each statement through April, your statement will include a line "Yr. Total 2013". This is the amount of child care tuition you were billed for 2013. Our Tax ID is also listed under this line.

If you need additional copies or other information, Kathy or Anne should be able to help you.

Picture Day  February 4

Tuesday, February 4 is "Picture Day". The photographer will be here from 9-11 a.m. All children present during that time will be photographed.

Families are under no obligation to purchase portraits. About 3 weeks after picture day, we will receive the portrait packages. Families will have time to review the package then decide whether to purchase any portraits. A center composite of all the children photographed is also available.

If your child is not scheduled for Tuesday morning, we invite you to stop in between 9 and 11 a.m. and have your child's picture taken. This will also include your child in the center composite.

If you have any questions, please see Ms. Kathy or email her at kathy.gilbert@wmich.edu.

Welcome Chart

Welcome Chart

Last week we introduced our new sign in system -  the Welcome Chart.

When you arrive, have your child find his/her picture name card and move it from the "home" side of the chart to the "school" side of the chart. During large group, we will use the chart to discuss who is present at school. These discussions help us build a sense of community within the classroom.

Focus questions for the week: "When do things happen at school?" and "Who works at our school?"

If you would like to share a special skill with the class, we would love to have you be a part of our day. Please talk with Ms. Jenny about arranging a time convenient for your schedule.

Toddler Studies

If short-term exposure to a topic boosts knowledge and  important cognitive skills, imagine the benefits that an increase in exposure can bring. For that reason, we are incorporating a component of the Creative Curriculum called Studies into the toddler room this semester.

These in-depth investigations will last roughly a month, and offer children opportunities to build on prior knowledge, make relevant connections, and learn about the real-life applications that are associated with the topic.

The first Study that we will explore is the Clothing Study. Children are naturally curious about clothing; they talk about clothes, take them on and off, and compare their own clothing with those of their friends. The investigations in this particular study include learning about the features of clothes, gaining knowledge about where clothing comes from, and exploring the 'special' clothing that is necessary in some occupations (uniforms, etc.) Each investigation strengthens a child's language and literacy skills, social and emotional growth, as well as math comprehension and physical development. We're excited to see where this first study takes us!
